Poitín now legal to drink in Ireland as first license given [Poteen, moonshine]

After generations of his family spent their lives as outlaws for making the infamous Irish poitín, Pádraic Ó Griallais has finally been able to carry out the family business in the open just under a decade after the spirit was outlawed.

Taking a career break from his job as a high school teacher to establish a new business based on his old family recipe, Ó Griallais is free to produce and sell the highly alcoholic spirit as he pleases without the interference of the Gardaí [Irish police], who hounded the previous poitín distillers in his family with raids to put a stop to the production of the beverage that was outlawed from 1661 to 1997 due to excise regulations.

The production of the spirit was regulated by the Irish Department of Agriculture in 1997 but only under their specific regulations. Luckily the regulations still allow Ó Griallais to use the botanical bogbean that grows around his family’s homeland around Indreabhán, County Galway, that makes their specific recipe so special. …

I’m surprised I even have a brain left since I’ve been working on this letter to HUD. I thought I was done, and maybe I’ve made the mistake of over-thinking it, but something has to be done to stop the mini-Klingon in her efforts to overthrow the managing of the residents here.

Let her overhear you telling someone else you hope she never sees what you have on your thumb drive because you have all the goods and her goose will be cooked unless she finds out how to stop you. But at least it's in code so you should be safe regardless. Then leave a thumb drive lying out with lots of recipes for cooked goose. She'll be busy for months trying to crack your code and you can do whatever you need to do.

I usually feel great when I get to sing.

The people listening, on the other hand...

Even my shower asks me to stop.

I thought that I had found the square root of negative infinity.

But it was only imaginary.

On a glowbull warmthing note, it is indicating a frigid 75 degrees on the exterior in the sunbeams.

Ohno. I hope you aren’t coming down with what has been going around here. It’s some pretty nasty stuff.

Hot tea with lemon. Or not. ;o]

I think it’s just allergies. Annoying, though.

IN! Before the Morning Kitteh Ping! WHOA!

I woke up, looked at the clock and jumped out of bed, thinking I had slept through the alarm, because I’m reading the digital 5:15. Hahaha, the joke was on me. I was playing with the clock last night, and didn’t pay any attention to how I left it.

Yep. It was reading 5:15 PM and in reality, it was 3:15 AM. I’m up an hour earlier than I should be. But ohwell. I got in on the tail end of another documentary on Queen Elizabeth.

Good morning. It’s about 7:00 a.m. here. Bill the Cardinal is diligently singing at the top of the poplar tree, “Twooop-woop-woop-woop-woop, yeep!”

See? That’s what I get for gathering wool in the middle of composing a post.

*sigh*

Good morning. I had a stange night and I’m really ready for something warm and comforting, something like a bed. I have a meeting with Zeke at 0500, and will present him with the final draft of the letter to HUD.

He sent me a text last night, telling me the manager called him to say he 1. didn’t believe Zeke was on jury duty yesterday (he was) and 2. that they were going to start eviction proceedings against him. He has complied with the contract, so they cannot do that legally.

So when I take him this final draft, I will also include a business card from Eddie the Attorney. I know the Klingon is at work in this, and that Casey is her puppet. I just read the contract, and he is in compliance, so once the threat of an attorney passes his lips, the Klingon should have enough sense to leave him alone.

The excitement starts early in your neck of the woods. Zeke should be able to get a note from the courthouse saying he was on a jury. Sheesh.

It’s called “harassment” for a reason. It’s what the Kingon does. She will not leave him alone, thinking she can throw all 92 pounds of her weight around. (That amount is soaking wet and in combat boots.)

I just added one more name to the three that are getting copies — the head of Human Services. Hmmm... Anyone want to bring some popcorn? I suspect SNRHA is going to implode, soon.

Is there a lot of money involved, or is this whole thing just about personal meanness?

A few years ago, there was a firing because the head of the whole SNRHA got caught skimming $1.5 million. I suspect the Klingon is still busy doing that same thing before her retirement, and Zeke scares her. He’s smart, savvy and has some powerful friends.

Or, she could just be a revolving jerk that is scared by Zeke. Either way, she likes to harass him.

And I’m off to meet with him.

I’m back. He approved the “new” person to mail it to and suggested another he “may” want to add. I told him that’s fine, as long as the ink holds out. He said he would give me “$20” for ink, but I will wait and see on that.

Monday morning, all this stuff is going out into the world. On Wednesday, a copy will be slipped under the door to Casey’s office, because they don’t get the mail from the mail bank any more often than once every 10 days.

It was 34 when I went to the clubhouse. I really would like some summer, right now.

And now, I need a breathing treatment and to start my day. I no sooner sat down at the clubhouse than my back began to spasm, and kept it up for about a minute, though it felt like three days.

I usually don’t go outdoors until it’s light. I hope you feel better now that you’ve accomplished all this!

I won’t feel better until all this stuff is mailed. I need to make more address labels and one for Casey’s envelope that says “PERSONAL and CONFIDENTIAL” in red ink. That way, the office help will (hopefully) respect the admonition.

Then the next thing is Chuck’s wake. So far, Zeke only has $40 in the kitty and the last count was 22 people. That’s a lot of pizza and beer, not to mention the wine that has to be bought for those who don’t drink beer. Red and white wines. Maybe two bottles each. LuDean will put in $10 and that’s all I will have for it, so that’s not much, considering Chuck would spend that much on pizza and beer (and wines) for five people.

And I’m battling fatigue. It’s not easy. I’m surprised that the letter is as cohesive as it is. Zeke gave his approval this morning, but I worry, because he wants to tell people about it. I don’t want him to.

I gave him Eddie’s card, and told him the next time Casey tries to get in his face to tell him to contact his attorney.
