I’m curious about the procedure...was the car running? Was the key on the front seat?
My car, like many cars made recently, has one of those keyless "start" buttons.Just today I stopped at a mailbox to mail a letter with the keyfob in my pocket and the car running.I wonder if cars like that would start with the key in close *proximity* to the car and continue to run once started.
Someday I might try an experiment...just out of curiosity.
RING! RING!
"Yo, Jamal, I'm gonna be fillin' up the car at that station I showed you in about 10 minutes, man. You and Leroy ready?"
"Yeah, man. Leave the keys in the ignition and just get out like you gettin' ready to pump. I'll jump in and go! You think she'll fire you?"
"Hell, no! She's loaded. She don't care!"
Probably an electronic key fob for a key.
“Oh no they dittn’t!”
Those new models don’t require a key. If the wireless FOB was anywhere near the car or in say, a jacket, or a purse, the car would start right up and be on it’s merry way.
