I’m curious about the procedure...was the car running? Was the key on the front seat?

My car, like many cars made recently, has one of those keyless "start" buttons.Just today I stopped at a mailbox to mail a letter with the keyfob in my pocket and the car running.I wonder if cars like that would start with the key in close *proximity* to the car and continue to run once started.

Someday I might try an experiment...just out of curiosity.

Well that is an interesting downside to keyless start.

I had one, it really did know if the fob was in the car or not.
Problem is it didn’t stop if the fob was taken out after starting, leaving me to go take it to my wife several times when I started it and she ended up driving it away...

I know if you leave it running and they turn it off it won’t start again, lol. I had my granddaughter go get me gas and then I had to find someone to take me to get her.
