6 times the PC police tried to steal Christmas this year

We are in the heart of Christmas season, so that means it’s time for the tolerance Grinches to come out of their closets once again. And, despite its dumpster fire excesses, it is only fitting that the year 2016 close with the memory of these recent incidents and examples of America’s perennial War on Christmas.

1. No to “religious-themed” displays of Santa deity

An Oregon school district instructed staff to sacrifice Christmas symbols at the altar of “diversity.” According to a memo sent by the Hillsboro School District, school staff could still decorate their offices, but were asked to “be respectful and sensitive to the diverse perspectives and beliefs of our community and refrain from using religious-themed decorations or images like Santa Claus.”

Santa Claus is now too much for this Portland-adjacent school district.

2. Emergency Christmas tree memo

Government officials threatened to trash a Christmas tree in a cubicle at the Department of Veterans Affairs office in Philadelphia. A VA employee, who asked to remain anonymous, informed The Washington Times of one “chilling” memo:

“There is a Christmas tree, ornaments, and decorations in the cubicle across from Luis Stevenson’s desk (the same cubicle where the scanner is housed),” VA supervisor Rebecca Cellucci told workers in a late November email marked “high” importance. “If this belongs to you, please claim it. Otherwise, it will be discarded on Friday.”

3. It’s religious censorship, Charlie Brown

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is alleged that a middle school staffer’s First Amendment rights were violated after school officials tried to censor a “Charlie Brown Christmas” holiday poster, as it also contained a Bible quote.

I’ll see their “Santa Diety” and invite Krampus to pay them a visit during this joyous season.

Excellent alternatives are snowflakes, snowmen or winter themes not directly associated with a particular holiday or religion.

Ummm . . . won't that offend people who live in climates where it never (or very rarely) snows, like southern California and south Florida?

Shouldn't images of snowflakes and snowmen (men?) be accompanied or preceded by trigger warnings to protect the sensibilities of ethnic groups who originated in equatorial regions?

Our town proudly displays a billboard, clearly visible from the major highway through town:

Atlanta [Texas] -- One City Under God."

When the anti-religion pukes complained to our Mayor, he asked them the size of their membership, and they answered, "Over 20,000 nationwide, and over 1,000 in Texas".

His response was, "When you have enough votes in this county to outvote our town, come back to see me. Now, get back in your car, leave, and don't bother stopping here again -- even to spend money!" They left -- and we haven't heard another word from them...

Last Saturday and Sunday evenings we had wonderful Christmas services with combined choirs from our largest two churches -- black and white -- and from several small, Biblical churches -- black, white, and mixed. It was a wonderful time, with a wide variety of music and performance styles (accompanied, self-accompanied, and a capella) -- and camaraderie that felt like a foretaste of Heaven.

It was at that service that the Mayor (a member of our choir) wished us all "Merry Christmas" -- and told the above story about our sign. The response was a thunderous chorus of "Amen!"s, applause, and a loud mix of "Right on!". "Tell it, Brother!", etc!!

Needless to say, we've already been asked to plan something similar for next year...

Santa Claus and a reindeer are religious symbols? Some asshole has been drinking too much spiked eggnog. Definitely worthy of a “drunk while writing” violation. Bears an investigation and a brain transplant, or least a frontal lobotomy.
