The baby girl, estimated to be 6 hours old, was found unresponsive by a store employee Friday night around 8, the TV station reports.
Louisiana does have a Safe Haven Law.
And the Walmart was located on Hospital Rd. Go Figure.
It’s hard when people have resources in these circumstances and they choose to have the baby and leave it in the bathroom of Walmart.”
...but they have to have a brain....

Common sense is not so common anymore.
I would say ghetto or trailer park, could be either. Hopefully this baby will have a better upbringing than had the “Mother” kept her.
Prayers for the wee one.
I blame liberals for debasing the culure (and regard for the sanctity of human life) so badly, that a young woman could become so morally degraded, she’d do such a thing to her own newborn child.
She tossed the baby in the trash yet she checked herself into the hospital? I will refrain from a comment on that.
Dear God! I couldn’t leave a baby animal in a trash can to die much less a baby human!
Before everyone goes into outrage mode...YES, it was awful what this woman did.
Maybe, we need another way also that a woman who has just given birth can drop the baby off somewhere.
Not justifying what she did...However, this woman did not have an abortion, and for whatever reason did not have support—medical or otherwise —as she was about to give birth. Probably terrified and in a town of 4000, she may have been afraid that to go to the hospital or police station with this baby, someone may recognize her-—women who leave a baby at the police station or hospital are usually not having a celebration first for the newborn.
She may have thought to drop the baby off at the hospital or police station , she would get interrogated or asked a lot of questions before she could leave.
i think we need to make it very “easy and comfortable” for the woman and get this out in the media so women are not afraid to go to the “safe Haven”. Or maybe we could have churches also be part of the safe haven concept.
No safe haven laws mean that they can drop off the baby without fear of recrimination.
Did you click on the link I posted on post one? It takes you directly to the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services and explains the safe haven law. A hospital was only a couple of hundred yards away and a hospital is a safe haven. There is no excuse for what this women did.
If I’m not mistaken, every state has a “safe haven” law in place as well as there being a federal law that serves the same purpose.
...the resources ARE available, all that you mentioned
No questions asked....
Did you read my post..or did you just ignore the points I was making?
Obviously, having the definition of the Safe Haven Law on a govt website is not enough to get across to the women who are already in crisis that its’ ok and safe to do so.”
I’m sure someone who has just given birth alone, will immediately go to a website to clarify the safe haven law.
You are right: hospital is a safe zone...there was a hospital in the area. Whoopee, you are right!
I’m not trying to “excuse’ this woman....just trying to make it easier for any woman in this situation.
But why do that, when we can feel good she got arrested.
the sanctimonious throwing of stones is unbelievable...
When we should be encouraging women not to abort, and find ways to help them give up the baby easily.
Perhaps her baby would interfere with her medical school studies? I’m sure she’s proficient in Latin and reads & writes perfect cursive. sarc
