An online movement of men is shrugging off the stereotype that 'cats are for girls' and flaunting their affinity for kitties, writes Hayley Gleeson. And they're giving others permission to embrace a gentler, more thoughtful kind of masculinity.
Myles Loughran is a cat man. 'Cat man' as in, 'cat lady', but with a Y-chromosome. Put another way, Mr Loughran is a man who likes cats as opposed to a man who likes dogs, say, or miniature pigs.
"There's something about cats," the 29-year-old co-owner of Cat Cafe Melbourne tells ABC News.
"I feel they can give you that real dedication that a lot of animals can't. And even though they can be a bit aloof, when they bond with you, there's nothing like it."

Ambulance driver in Aleppo feeds abandoned cats. Bless him. Wish I could help.
The cat was trying to teach YOU how to hunt. I've had a couple of cats do this.
I’ve never much liked dogs and have never understood their popularity. Cats, however, have always been my favorites.
That says it all.
Now we can grab men by the pussy so there’s nothing misogynistic about it.
Ever see the movie Keanu, about the little gangsta kitten? It is hysterical!!

Love that little guy.
God Bless and Thank-you to those who adopt/rescue animals and in a special way cats and dogs in their lives.
FTA: [says Dr Fraser]: Historically, it’s always been that men shouldn’t have to work hard for anyone’s affections we (women, animals) all just rush to them. But the rise of cat men is especially significant because it’s an “antidote” to the kind of toxic masculinity which, at its most extreme edges, has been linked with mass shootings and violence against women.
Where do I start?
I’ve only been on this earth for forty-mumble years, but I believe that historically men indeed were the ones who pursued women AND animals - tho hopefully for different reasons. What planet is this Dr. Fraser from? Ah, yes. The She-man Man-haters Club.
I wouldn’t be so fast to associate mass shootings and woman beatings with masculinity. Unless you’re a Muslim, in which case, carry on.
