Alex Wong / Getty Images Trumps Victory Was Not a Rejection of Liberalism Conservative columnist Michael Barone declares the "collapse of the political left"and points to a few magazine covers as evidence. BY GRAHAM VYSE December 9, 2016 There are a lot of potential takeaways from Donald Trumps victory last monththat Americans have a high threshold for proto-fascism, for instancebut conservative columnist Michael Barone believes the election result was an outright rejection of American liberalism. In an article Wednesday in The Washington Examiner, The collapse of the political left, he calls Hillary Clintons loss proof that the left cant jam its policies down on the whole nation and should instead develop policies acceptable not only to its own base but with voters among whom it fell agonizingly short this year.
Its obviously true that the Democratic Party needs a new strategy. Though she won the popular vote by more than two million, Hillary Clinton lost white college-educated voters to Trump, and his support from the white working class made the difference in swing states. As long as the Electoral College remains, these political realities cant be ignored. Still, Trumps win is hardly the disaster for liberalism Barone makes it out to be.

Seriously??? Bridge for sale, river in Egypt ...
Ha, ha, ha. I hope the left keeps thinking like this. And when they call Trump “Hitler”, do they realize they are calling him a leftist just like themselves?
Liberalism is now at its lowest ebb since the 1920s. But I guess there is no cause for alarm ...
Strawman. Trump’s election was a rejection of globalism. A rejection of liberalism is yet to come. And Trump may be the man to accomplish that, too.
Yes, it was.
And it was a rejection of the Cheap Labor Express Republicans and the importation of the workers for the jobs that could not be exported.
Finally, it was rejection of the Uniparty which only served itself, not the citizens.
“Trumps win is hardly the disaster for liberalism” - wishful thinking. Michigan has already passed anti-voter fraud legislation. More of that to follow in other states. Taking away DemocRAT votes is hitting them where it really hurts.
Yep, the German National Socialist party had far more in common with the way modern day “liberals” treat everyone. Fascism shows...
Funny. Dukakis wouldn’t call himself a liberal until Bush squeezed it out of him. If they think the word os ok I say go for it!
True.
It was a rejection of LEFTISM.
“Trump’s Victory Was Not A Rejection Of Liberalism”
Well . . . it all depends. It depends on what your definition of “rejection” is.” (as opposed to what your definition of “is” is.)
This is so much fun watching these idiots twisting in the wind.

Liberalism is a lie that keeps being repeated.
” It was a rejection of LEFTism”
Exactly!
Globalism is our biggest threat, maybe even more than radical islam. Globalists are making the US weaker in order to build up the 3rd world and China. Every country would be equal
Oh...but it is.
Maybe January 20, 2025, if a Democrat manages to win in 2024. Let's face it, whining, twisting and spinning news is in the DNA of every Democrat, including most of the news "reporters" of the Lame Stream Media.
Reagan dealt with this crap by ignoring the bleating, and Dubya did as well to some extent. Daddy Bush, however, let them dictate his agenda, which is why some unknown peanut farmer from Georgia was able to beat him so easily.
Let me be the first to congratulate the Democrats on their stunning takeover of the House and Senate....oops :-)
