Former Vice President Al Gore touted Ivanka Trump's commitment to a climate policy "that makes sense" Monday night after meeting with President-elect Donald Trump and his daughter.
It's no secret that Ivanka Trump is very committed to having a climate policy that makes sense for our country and for our world and that was certainly evident in the conversation that I had with her," Gore told Chris Hayes on MSNBC's "All In." "I appreciate the fact that she is very concerned about this."
Gore stressed that he preferred to "not give too many details" about the meeting but called it a "very intelligent exchange."
Ivanka Trump has singled out environmental regulation as her primary policy focus as an incoming first daughter, despite her father's past claims that climate change is a hoax propagated by China. Reince Priebus, the incoming White House chief of staff, in recent days said Trump's "default position" on the topic was that most of it is a bunch of bunk.
Gore described both meetings earlier Monday as "very productive" and "extremely interesting," according to pool reports.
"I had a lengthy and very productive session with the president-elect, Gore told reporters. It was a sincere search for areas of common ground. I had a meeting beforehand with Ivanka Trump. The bulk of the time was with the president-elect, Donald Trump. I found it an extremely interesting conversation, and to be continued, and I'm just going to leave it at that.
Despite Gore's endorsement of Ivanka Trump, the president-elect continues to consider Cabinet candidates that have views that run counter to the former vice president's.
Among Trump's top contenders to head the Department of Energy is Oklahoma oilman and Continental Resources CEO Harold Hamm, who was a leading voice on energy policy in the Trump camp during the presidential campaign. Venture capitalist Robert Grady is seen as another potential energy secretary pick.
Trump has considered Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson for secretary of state.
Is this the same Gore who was VPOTUS? He actually sounds like a nice guy.
I’m trusting Trump on this one with whatever he is doing... He wants to tackle regulations and has done his fair share of complaining about the EPA.
Maybe Gore wants a job.
You've had those doubts, no doubt, all along and didn't vote for him in the primary.
He hasn't changed his position on the issue as of yet. So, kiss off unless he does.

I’m trusting Trump, also. Have never really heard Ivanka agree with climate change caused by the existence of living things.
How does this put American’s back to work?
That is what Donald is working on
He is not going to fall for baloney even though his daughter is a true believer in this nonsense
“I am far less confident and recognize Trump is unmoored to any philosophical principles other than what benefits him.”
Proving that your own muddled thoughts about Trump are on par with the usual MSM and GOPe bilge that we have heard all along.
Jeb! tried selling that same line.
Scott Adams has proven to be a useful source for those who just don’t quite get how Trump operates.
The issue is disastrous for our financial health, the country's financial health, freedom, and great for world governance. And it's all based on junk science. If our leader is blind to the fraud, I will have no confidence going forward.
President-elect TRUMP, have a chat with IVANKA and put her in her place. Tell her she has no authority to have a platform. She is not the First Lady. Set the boundaries!
Depends on what “that makes sense” means. Gore is dumb as a rock. Trump snookered him.....and he doesn’t even know it.
“He hasn’t changed his position on the issue as of yet. So, kiss off unless he does.”
Classy, but fair enough. And if he does change his tune on this I will be there to remind you, just as you will remind me if he does not.
I keep in mind the Salena Zito quip, “The press took Donald Trump literally, but not seriously, whereas Trumps supporters took him seriously, but not literally.
“[Ivanka] Trump herself has said virtually nothing about climate change in public, instead focusing on childcare throughout the presidential campaign. The only thing that comes close is one tweet from six years ago where she seems to imply that cold weather contradicts the idea that climate change is taking place, though this is mainly just a joke and not some sort of firm policy stance on her part.”
Ironic tidbit of the day...Senate global warming hearing canceled due to the blizzard. http://bit.ly/9nzHsE

The last 2 weeks I have come to FR wondering what “freak out” of the day will be. Yesterday it was a combination of the re-counts & Ivanka arranging a meeting with Algore. “Ivan is going to convince Trump to go back on his stance on climate change & what other lefty issue will she convince him to change on...blah blah blah” along with “they are going to steal the election from Trump...blah blah blah.”
Algore is a liar. His penchant for dishonesty is well documented. He’s slime of the lowest order. We know Trump to be the exact opposite.
I’m 100% confident Trump will use Algore to his advantage to advance his rejection of the whole notion of man-made climate change. I can see him showing all Algore’s failed predictions & lies down Algore’s throat at a time Trump deems useful.
I disagree. I think Gore was happy to sit with a pretty young woman who listened sympathetically and made him feel like he was still relevant. Which is probably all he really wants: attention.
That is true
Man made climate change is a farce
natural climate change is science and been proven
There is no evidence that Ivanka is even a partial believer.
I certainly don’t trust a Dem taking a victory lap about anything.
