Great show...particularly in the early years.Miss Brahms was damn hot but Mr Mash was my favorite character. In one scene he was "bathing" a female dummy that had no clothes on.Captain Peacock was unnerved by that and instructed Mr Mash to bathe them "in a petticoat" (meaning that the dummy would be clothed).Mr Mash replied,in that Cockney accent of his "very well,Captain Peacock...is it all right if I keep me socks on?"
Classic...classic!

To bad Hollywood can’t write funny stuff like that.

I was in Canada during that period, watching the CBC. In addition to the programs mentioned, The Two Ronnies was good, as was the precursor to Amerca's Three's Company, Man About the House. But I have to confess, my guilty pleasure was
Clochemerle.

I do remember skit that along with other great episodes. Although I was in elementary school at the time, I remember my family and I howling in laughter watching those shows.

Ah right! The Two Ronnies was another great one! Back in the 90’s/early 2000’s, I remember watching British Comedies on Sat. nights on PBS. Keeping Up With Appearances and Two Fat Ladies were among my favorites.

We don’t get stuff like that, especially on broadcast TV, because of our fear of sexuality. For an example, Man About the House had the male inhabitant perpetually trying to seduce the females. The US version, Three’s Company, was so terrified of that, they defined John Ritter down to near-homosexuality to cut any intimation of lustful pursuits.

Have you watched Shameless? It derives from a Brit show of the same name which is, incredibly, even sharper and less PC than the US version. Frank is worse, Fiona Gallagher is a round-heels, and one of the characters says the dole should pay more because drugs are so expensive.

The Brits do have a different sense of humor. I think we lost that when we crossed the pond.
I loved Mrs. Slocum’s ‘cat’ episode.

The old British Comedies and some of the new are far better fair than what’s being served up over here.

Captain Peacock was in the old Three Musketeers with Charlton Heston and Oliver Reed; he was in a sedan chair and got to grab Raquel Welch’s boobs.
He got paid for that part.

No, I was agreeing with Fai Mao. I didn’t understand the comment at #4 and what it was posted for. Just didn’t fit.

I liked Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life more than others. John Cleese is one of my fav English comedians. He and Kevin Kline were hilarious too in the movie “A Fish Called Wanda”.
