It was hook, line and sinker literally for a man who went out fishing over Thanksgiving.
Equipped with only a small rod, Wilmington, North Carolina, resident Riahn Brewington struggled as he tried to pull out a fish from Cape Fear River last week.
He caught a catfish, but not just any catfish: a giant catfish that weighed more than 112 pounds.
The bloated fish was bigger than the top half of Brewingtons body.
Brewington couldnt believe his eyes, and neither could his friends when the fisherman posted his prized catch on Facebook.
Holy Catfish!!! one Facebook user exclaimed.
Is this real life?? another asked.
The North Carolina man assured them that the fish was all too real. It was obvious to many that the fish was a clear candidate for a state record holder, but unfortunately the fish fell a few pounds short.
According to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, the record holder for biggest catfish is a blue catfish, weighing in at 117 pounds, 8 ounces, caught on June 11.
But Brewington doesnt consider the catch a loss. He released the massive creature in hopes of catching a bigger version of him again someday.
This was huge and Riahn Brewington released him to fight again, said friend and fellow fisherman Dean Hall, who witnessed Brewingtons epic catch in person.
Hey, it was funny when I was 12. I apologize in advance.
I like how women smell
It’s like a laser beam in my dream
Me too brother. Just an old joke in response to another post implying the same thing.
I was just teasing
I grew up in the 60s when tuna jokes were the rage
We even had the famous pissant sarah Palin Tammy Bruce tuna reference joke here years ago that got piss a long zot
Even detractors admitted it was crude but witty
Yep..I like the smell of a fine woman who’s happy to see me....real men do
Howdy fellow hombre verdad
Plus girls are so sensitive about that.....
God I think made men to respond positively to the lubricious musk
And I’m grateful
Yeah, but he could have used a chain saw.
Having experienced the fin of a one pound catfish pierce the palm of my hand, I would never put myself in a position where a 112 pound cat could gore me.
That’s what he did. He let the fish go.
The picture is obviously ‘taken” out in the wild. He also said he released it after the picture was taken, so presumably it was still alive then. So, the question is.....How did he weigh it?
Most serious fishermen keep a hand held spring scale in their tackle box. No they are not very big and many of them scale over a hundred pounds.
Additionally, measuring a 112 lb. fish requires sturdily supporting the scale at a height higher than the fish is long, and then waiting until the fish stops flopping around. This is not easy for a 112 lb. fish. The story would be far more complete and feasible if it described how the fish was weighed.
Dude listen, when I was actively fishing I had more than one set of scales in my boat. One for bass and crappie and another one for the big ones. You evidently haven’t ever hung around a bunch of river rats or die hard country fisherman folks. As I said in an earlier post, that fish will probably not make it after it was returned to the water. The weight of the fish out of water does terrible damage to the heart and other organs. It might swim off but chances are it will die within a few days. As far as the story was written, it’s evident it wasn’t written by a fisherman.
Dude, look. It is quite evident it was. We know that all fishermen are liars, except you and me, and sometimes I have my doubts about you.
Absolutely! And all in fun!
Smaller one are better eating, so I’ve heard. My biggest wasn’t much over five pounds, and delicious!
And we respect our Beloved Elder Brethren for following them.
Catfish are not considered kosher because they lack scales. Kosher fish need to have scales and paired fins. That is why shark is not kosher, their type of scales are not considered scales.
didn’t I say that already about catfish not being kosher?
