Following a court hearing, a Washington County judge ordered Craig Buckner, 38, jailed for violating release terms in connection with multiple misdemeanor theft cases.
Buckner, not expecting to land behind bars, arrived at the courthouse with his four-year-old red parrot, which he placed in a tree before heading inside the building...

That’s a Greenwing Macaw. Have one (19 years old). Never had him pose for a mug shot, though.

Beautiful bird, wish I could afford one. But you would not be concerned having your face that close to his long sharp beak? I’ve only owned parakeets so far. The Parrots may be too noisy for apartment dwelling.

[Beautiful bird, wish I could afford one.]
Been there, done that. They are VERY MESSY (seeds everywhere) and LOUD birds. Plus, if they don’t take a liking to you, they could take a finger off with their powerful beak. LUCKY took a chunk of wood out of the closet door where she like to perch.
We gave her to a zoo.

Poor, tormented PEBBLES. Do you think the owner inherited the bird with its vocabulary or taught it to him?

My Macaw spends a good deal of time on my shoulder. In fact, we "play fight" sometimes, my mouth vs. his beak. They're not domesticated animals, so one does have to be careful. I've had my Marcus since he was about a month old, and we're bonded. That doesn't mean I won't get a painful bite once in a while. They're very sweet and affectionate birds, but they can have their moods. In any case, you're right that getting one's fact too close to that beak could be dangerous. But, for all the times Marcus has "nipped" me, he's never gone after my face.
And by the way, I was living in an apartment when I got my macaw. At the time, I also had a pair of Alexandrine Parakeets. It was the 'keets that made all the noise -- Marcus only really screamed if/when he wanted attention. Greenwings can be loud, but they don't generally scream for no reason.

Saskatoon must have some very long Winter drunken nights to spend enough time to teach that bird that vocabulary.

I have a female Green-Cheeked Conure that is a few years old. She doesn’t talk or play with any toys except for tearing paper. Sometimes she’ll dance to music, which is very funny! She’s bonded with me and my mother, but there is a 50/50 chance she’ll bite whatever other shoulder she is on. I love her nonetheless, and I intend to keep her all 15-30 expected years she lives.

I don’t think the current owner has had him long. There’s backstory somewhere but he might be in a pet store or rescue or halfway house or something now.
