I am putting up a Christmas display outside for the first time since the 90’s. I will add a menorah as it is appropriate.

I think Muslims should put up a display, too. If I hear Muslim music in my neighborhood, I will play Christmas or holiday music equally loud

I fully expect I will be arrested but I will not go along to get along. I love Christmas and its music. I love Hanukkah. Why must I not celebrate with Santa, a manger, a Star of David?

So, where is the tolerance for us, the people who comprise at a minimum 60% of the population who like to celebrate the Holidays????? .

I've got extra Merry Christmas signs up in my (public school) classroom this year - santas, angels, Christmas stockings, Christmas lights, absolutely beautiful and the kids love it.

Trump inspired me. Last December he had "Merry Christmas" signs on the podium at his rallies:

I live next to a "Christmas House" and it does generate a lot of traffic - and trash. This guy has a path around the decorations so people can get out of their cars and "get close" to the action. He told me a lot of things were stolen last year so he's toned it down a bit.

When I walk my dogs past his home, I can feel the heat coming off the lights, etc., I think he's vying for that "crazy Christmas house decorations" show on TV. We always wonder what his electric bill is at the end of the season.

Maybe they should see the story about Scrooge - if they want to be happy, they will stop harping about how bad Christmas is and embrace the love of a God who stepped out of Heaven to live as a man so we could develop a personal relationship with Him then let himself be murdered that we might be saved.

Or people who don’t want the hassle. I enjoy a good Christmas display, but if it’s drawing thousands of people interfering with my ability to get home and leaving trash behind every night I’d get pretty sick of it pretty quick. Even the home owner acknowledges that the neighborhood isn’t well suited to the draw. This is my first year in a long time not living near Tucson’s big Christmas decoration neighborhood Winterhaven, I’m REALLY looking forward to actually being able to do things at night and not seeing all the trash people leave behind every morning. Turning your home (or neighborhood) into a tourist zone does have consequences, and your neighbors pay them.

I’ve always done lights, starting on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, until the first Saturday after New Years Day.

There have been years in the past that cost me >$300 in electric bills in December because of it.

But being the miser that I am, I have thrown out all of the incandescent items and switched to a tasteful LED display that consumes about 17 watts. That covers the entire eave of the house, around the garage door, and a couple of bushes.

What used to consume 200 watts (or much more in some years) is now a mere 17, as shown on my Kill-a-watt meter. Ahh, Christmas spirited miserliness is a good feeling. :)
