It has never happened to me like this before. Yesterday, I stopped at a little taqueria just east of Austin to get something to eat. As I was waiting, a big, stocky black guy holding a roll of paper towels under his arm came up to me and asked me if I wanted my windshield cleaned for $1. I said, "No, I'm good." He kept on, saying "Hey, just give me $1. Can't you see I'm trying to work to get money for a taco?"
I politely declined, telling him my finances were tight due to car repairs and trying to pay for school for my son. He began to get upset and then looked at me and said, "You're racist!" and some other babble I didn't quite catch. He looked at my wedding ring and said he used to have one, but he sold it. I asked him, "How can I be racist if my wife is a native of Mexico?" "Why would I marry a Mexican if I were racist?" He shot back, "She's not black!"
The poor little woman in the taco trailer told him she'd make him a taco for free(to shut him up) and he settled down. Now, my question is this: Is this a hate crime, trying to extort money off of people as they go to a taco trailer trying to get something to eat? What if I were to have tried that on someone? Police probably would have been called. This has left me with a really bad taste in my mouth. I blame Obama and all Democrats for this. They have so divided people that a lot of blacks have been enabled in treating everyone else in an abusive manner. My CCW was in the car which kept me from telling the man what I wanted to tell him and things probably would not have ended well for the street thief. How sad to put oneself in a position to die over trying to extort $1 off of someone. This nation is going to hell in a handbasket.
It almost sounds like the officer was giving you permission to do... ...something...
I would give him a dollar if he is willing to listen to me talking to him about Jesus.
You beat me to that comment.
That is true. I have found that you need to act crazier than them. It's mostly an act that has worked well for them.
I had to get gas late one night, so I made sure I had my gun easily available.
I saw him coming and I told him to back the hell up. He said he just wanted a few dollars.
I pulled out my gun and also pointed the gas pump at him. I told him that I bet I could shoot him and set him on fire at the same time. He ran away like bat out of hell. He screamed “crazy white bi*ch,” when he made safely around the building.
The first thing Rudy did when he cleaned up New York was to get rid of the panhandlers.
Not only is it dangerous for the law abiding, but it allows easier cover for bad guys, as an easier environment to blend into.
Excellent example of how a government subsidy creates demand.
I wonder how many will show up tomorrow for a free taco?
Jesus commands us to love God, love ourselves, and love our neighbors. Further, He commands us to make disciples of all men.
These commands have no conditions
When I have been in the exact same situation I have sat and had a meal with them. Maybe it made a difference in their life. But it certainly mad a difference in mine
Once, I sat and had pizza with a woman who asked me for money. A few weeks later I saw her picture in the paper. She had froze to death
I give you credit...the conversation should have ended the first time you said, No, I’m good.
A bit of a dice roll there. Good to hear that it ended well.
Just tell him, “Sure I can give you a dollar, but first, can I talk to you about the Church of Scientology?”
Out-crazy the crazies. They aren’t usually prepared for that tactic.
Very pushy and indeed demanding panhandlers are common in NYC and have been common for many years.
Most are very passive, but some are demanding.
Just say no, and they move on.
Throat-punch!
Our FIRST black POTUS has destroyed all of the gains made in race relations!!! It has NEVER BEEN this bad the ONLY time I ever saw REAL trouble was when MLK was assinated!!!
But the door is locked.
It’s very simple. Never engage in conversation of any form with such people. Drive away.
But the door is locked.
Also, it’s in the front. The car is a scion FRS. The gun is easily accessible to me even with the door completely open. It’s one of the reasons I chose that spot.
Everyone needs to take a family picture and Photoshop a black “spouse” into it. Whip it out when being condemned as a racist.
When I lived in Alaska, my co-worker handled the department’s grievances. One whiner was a native Alaskan and accused my friend of discrimination. At that point he took his family pic from his drawer, which showed his three adopted Eskimo children. It was great.
If we were in the taco place when he asked for a dollar, I would have bought him a taco. If someone is hungry and asking for food I would not turn him down. Do unto others.
No, it's a douche bag being a douche bag. tell him the Trump Administration is hiring and to go to usajobs.gov
Wrong.
#1 Never carry a weapon unless it is ready to shoot. Clambering a round takes two hands. Not a good move.
#2: Never display a weapon unless you are ready to kill that person with it. Never consider using your weapon unless it is to save the life or prevent serious bodily harm to yourself or someone you know. Other exceptions are Castle Doctrine situations.
There is no death penalty for being a dumb racist. Drive away, kick back, turn on the radio, and enjoy life.
