The school bus driver charged after a crash that killed five children was involved in another collision just two months ago – and only got his license to drive a school bus in April.
Johnthony Walker, 24, was arrested and charged after with five counts of vehicular homicide after the collision in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Monday.
Five Woodmore Elementary students - three fourth-graders, a first-grader and a boy in kindergarten – died in the crash and nearly two dozen more were injured.
Twelve children remain hospitalized, six of them in a critical condition in intensive care.
But now, it has emerged that Walker had been in an accident involving a school bus as recently as September.
According to the police report, he was heading into a blind curve and hit an SUV when he crossed over into the oncoming lane to maneuver the bus around the bend.

I bet he was drunk and stupid.
I don’t think it’s scandalous that he just got his licence 6 months ago. These people have to get experience somehow. His lack of competence should have been glaringly obvious, though.

Good grief. His blood came back clean. No alcohol or drugs in his system. I think it is a tragedy but I hope the jury lets him off. It was a terrible accident.

I would sue the school system into oblivion for gross negligence. This goon was obviously not fit from his damned hair due.
Read the details of the incident. There is a reason why he was charged before the blood tests were done.
It all depends on the facts that we don’t know right now.
If he was negligent to a high degree than he killed those kids and he should be punished for it.
It should NEVER be OK for a bus driver to kill their passengers due to their criminal negligence.
Accidents also do unfortunately happen so if it was a simple freak accident than a jury should also consider that and decide accordingly.
With many dead and horribly injured children this MUST go before a jury, in my opinion.

TV network news reported that the driver said, “Are you ready to die?” Just before impact.

Perhaps I am hallucinating, but I imagine a school bus takes just about the same route every day. Every_single_day. So, OK, the blind curve was equivalently blind on every one of the 40+ school days driven so far.
Secondly, any such “blind curve” is on a fairly quiet residential street; not a 45-50 mph semi-thoroughfare. I have heard reports that this bus was split in half by the collision. He must have been ripping in that thing.
Prosecuting the guy isn’t going to bring the dead children back, but I kind of doubt the injuries & deaths would have been so bad if he wasn’t going awfully fast.
I thought the same thing yesterday when I read this. But the answer is NO, they were not.
Racing a school bus through a neighborhood, hitting a house and continuing on to roll the bus and hit a tree so hard it almost sheared the bus in half is an 'accident' ? Terrible, I agree.
I have seen that repeated many times the past two days. The problem is I have not seen where he disclosed the source. Was he riding on the bus ?
Add Protected Class immunity and it's even better.
