Cement, the ubiquitous material used to build roads, buildings and other infrastructure, absorbs about one billion tons of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) annually, according to a new study published Monday in the journal Nature Geoscience.
But concrete carbonation is not currently considered in emissions inventories kept by the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), according to the studys co-authors, an international team of researchers led by Professor Dabo Guan of the U.K.s University of East Anglia.
The study found that cements natural carbonation process not only offsets the fossil fuel emissions released during its production, it also represents a large and growing net sink of CO2 that has not been taken into account by the IPCC.

lots of folks cannot visualize 400 parts per million.
My challenge to folks is to put four small dots on a 8.5 by 11 piece of paper, thats 400 parts per million.
Or, go to a 100,000 seat stadium, and pick out the 40 seats that represent CO2, which will trap and hold all sorts of heat energy.
The whole climate change thing is a joke on those who lack discernment
Not only does he surpass the goals, he’s been doing so for years. Every time he builds a skyscraper, he’s fighting global warming.
In fact, he may be the leading Climate champion in the world!
Exactly- I always give the example of dumping a 5 gallon pail of 100 degree water into an Olympic sized pool of 90 degree water to try to give some visual perspective on the issue-
How many dots can fit on an 11x8? seems like it would be less than a million (pencil dots I mean)

If the pool was 20 feet wide by 36 feet long and was 8 feet deep on one end and 4 feet deep on the other rend it would contain about 26,820 gallons of water. At 0.00136% = 36 1/2 gallons
well that’s certainly more precise- thanks or doing that- the point being of course that even 37 gallons of 100 degree water into that pool of 90 degree water will do nothing- and certainly won’t warm it to ‘catastrophic levels’ like the alarmists claim we are doing to the world
Real small dots, like tapping the pencil on the paper.
I conveyed the inches to millimeters. A millimeter is very small
400 per million
Or 4 per 10,000
If the pool is 15’ Dia x 4’ dp, 0.00136% is just over a cup, about 1.15 cups.
Cool, now he can call it the Donald Trump Climate Change Initiative Wall and liberals can actually get on board with it.
