That was pretty dumb.

It was what it was - tell my Mom, and millions others, how dumb it was - I can tell you where she's buried.

Instead of just a blanket "dumb" statement, data might make your post worthy of having been posted.

I think it can have very bad health risks, especially for men."

Actually both men and women have to be careful. It's not just men who get swelling. Women's ovaries are affected. The covering of your brain too.

I got all my childhood diseases as an adult - both kinds of measles, mumps and chicken pox. Actually I've had chicken pox 4 times.

The worst, hands down, was the mumps. The WORST headache I have ever had.

I’ve been watching it spread, started in Springdale and is working it’s way out.

Wait till some fool breaks a vial of smallpox. then all he11 will break lose!

My wife, who had mumps as a child but has a very weak immune system, worked at a hospital. Once she took food to the Children’s ward. Within a few days she came down with Chicken pox, mumps and measles all at the same time. Poor girl was really sick!

I don’t think that anyone in my family or anyone that I ever knew had mumps.

trisham :" I don’t think that anyone in my family or anyone that I ever knew had mumps."

Due to the infectious nature of mumps and measles, it generally sweeps through entire neighborhoods and school disricts;
a reason for the sweep is that you or your children contract it as much as 10-18 days before the symptoms even show up.
Prior vaccination and school entry requirements may have already eliminated you , or your family being at risk.
One of the reasons why I updated on the infectious disease ping list is so that people are advised if it is found in their neighborhood,
or if they are at a family event where someone may be attending school in an infected area.
Many school districts require MMR vaccination (Measeles, Mumps, Rubella) prior to grammar school admission, and as shown in the earlier 11/11/16 report,
prior vaccination may require a "booster" shot, since peoples immune system may not have been activated.
YMMV
