Her doe eyes filled with fear as Jack Nicholson chops his way through a door remains one of Hollywood horror movies' most iconic scenes, but this star is a heartbreakingly long way from her glory days.

What does Shelly expect Dr. Phil to do for her?
That’s what I’m not getting. Does some insurance company doubt her diagnosis?
I think she just became outdated and didn’t know how to adapt to the changed norms and other areas where preferences changed.
God bless her and keep her.
Prayers for her health and happiness.
I think a career as an actor could drive anybody nuts. She was a household name, and now she’s — what?
as some one who is stable at the moment but suffers from mental illness. I hope that her family is there to protect her. having a mental illness leaves you very vulnerable to others because it is hard to respond in an appropriate way when under pressure and the things that might set off the illness varies so much person to person and it even varies within the disorder...
some times it helps just to have an audience. looking at the article I don’t think she even knows what he can do. I think she is just lonely.
Darn I can’t remember. Oh well, I gotta million of ‘em!
Nobody wants to be unstable
Pitiful.....ambivalent about having her on tv like this
Altman did McCabe and Mrs Miller too.....excellent in my view
Quite possibly she avoids them, as well as her neighbors and family. Mental illness is Hell, especially when they have their lucid moments and the know something’s wrong. I wouldn’t wish it on anybody.
Dr. Phil could use a license as well....he doesn’t have one. Oprah helped him way too much.
bump
Do you think that's a driving factor behind the fact that so many actors are so utterly divorced from reality? It does not make sense for people who live in mansions and have unimaginable wealth to advocate to destroy the society and government that made their success possible, yet they do that all the time.
It sounds to me as if she has schizophrenia. The idea that Dr. Phil is going to help her is scary. He exploits people. She needs to be brought to the attention of her community mental health system, if she has not been already.
I’ve always enjoyed her work. I hope she finds peace.
"Nashville"
"Three women" with Sissy spacek.
He’s not really a doctor of any kind, so I’m skeptical of what he can do outside of exploit her.
TO THIS:
Paranoid schizophrenia is awful...sounds like her illness
