Plants are taking in carbon at faster rates, CO2 levels hold steady

The study was led by the Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory, and involved looking at both atmospheric and ground CO2 levels, as well as vegetation as recorded by satellites, the combination of which was plugged into a computer model. Using this data, the team found that CO2 atmospheric increases stayed right around 1.9 parts per million each year from 2002 through 2014.

Emissions continue to pump CO2 into the atmosphere, however the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere resulting from these activities is down 20-percent. The combination of that decline and the increased work from trees and plants means that levels are mostly holding steady despite continued emissions. We have increased ‘photosynthetic activity’ on the ground to thank for that.

If atmospheric co2 is NOT rising exponentially, then temperatures will NOT rise linearly.

Something about “balance of nature” being able to take care of itself.

Earths buffer system kicks in to prevent runaway CO2. This is just common sense. Only a liberal professor or research scientist could possible ignore this FACT when generating climate models. Or more likely, a well paid lackey of a government that demanded all research support a preconceived outcome of climate alarmism.

I am beyond frustrated with college educated friends who lack the simple common sense to see that man-made C02 is not a poison, and is not causing runaway global warming.

Meanwhile, the massive expenditures for this fraud are bankrupting us here in California, and Jerry Brown is all in going full speed ahead. I am going to LMAO when I am living elsewhere and the California economy is circling the drain over supporting idiotic liberal policies.

LMAO.

In truth, atmospheric CO2 is a rare and valuable commodity.

Atmospheric CO2 does not generate measurable “Global Warming” but what it does do is stimulate massive increases in plant growth and the growth of other organisms that rely on photosynthesis.

These plants rapidly drive down the CO2 levels to lower levels once the supply of surplus CO2 is cut back.

This is why there is no real serious danger of runaway global warming due to CO2 emissions.

As a result of global warming research we now have an extensive network of sophisticated space and ground based monitoring systems that can track climate trends in real time.

If we ever do see a warming trend due to CO2, it will be gradual over many decades because it takes a long time to significantly increase the CO2 concentration and the climate responds slowly.

We will also have time to determine if that warming is a negative or positive impact on the Earth's eco system.

One of the major potentially false assumptions of the climate doomsayers is the assumption that the combination of higher levels of atmospheric CO2 combined with a small 1-2 deg average temperature increase is a very bad thing.

In reality, this could prove to be a huge plus to the Earth's eco system. We are absolutely seeing that the current CO2 levels are have a very positive effect on plant growth - the very definition of the “Green” movement (it's the reason they call it green).

However, if there is negative impact, we have an early warning system that can detect climate change and allow us to cut back emissions and plants and other CO2 fixing mechanisms in the Earth's Carbon Cycle will rapidly bring the atmospheric CO2 down to much lower levels.

The doom and gloom Climate Warriors really have no basis for their alarmist threats and predictions because we can easily identify and reverse any CO2 emission based climate change before such changes even become significant.

Kinda adds to the idea that planet earth is an entity with a self correcting eco system

What you have to do is look at CO2 like money on a government welfare EBT card and plants like welfare freeloaders looking for a free ride.

Atmospheric CO2 is like money - it is hard and slow to make a surplus of and it gets consumed fast and easy by greedy plant life.

The more money (CO2) there is available , the more freeloaders (plants) jump in to consume all available money (CO2). No matter how much you tax the Earth's fossil fuel supplies with ignition there is never enough CO2 support all the hungry plants.

Hard line unit CO2 Democrats are simply not being inclusive.

They support massive socialistic welfare spending for people but deny the benefits of socialism to Gaia’s green plants by refusing to issue them the CO2 EBT cards they deserve and are entitled to.

I guess we need to teach plants to vote.

We can’t allow our plant friends to starve. Drive your SUVs and make sure there’s food on their table !

I love your analogy with the EBT card CO2. I’ll try that on some of my brain dead friends and see if it sinks in.

Climate scientists are planning massive deforestation to stop this so the research money keeps flowing. What’s a rain forest or two compared to a cushy professor’s chair?

our atmosphere weighs approx 6 quadrillion tons- That’s Yuge- CO2 takes up a very very tiny amount of atmosphere- so little it’s not even really worth mentioning

All CO2 in atmosphere, from what I’ve been able to gather, amounts to 0.04% of the atmosphere- This is nothing- Man’s contribution of CO2 to that 0.04% = just 3.8%

3.8% of 0.04% = 0.00136%- that is how much of our atmosphere that is made up of CO2 due to man

Can someone explain to me how just 0.00136% of our atmosphere is able to capture/store. release via back radiation towards earth to cause global warming? (Remember, only a fraction of the tiny amount of heat captured will get radiated in the ‘right direction’ ie: towards earth- only a fraction of it finds it’s way back towards earth

The rest of the heat quickly becomes overwhelmed by the massive amount of cooler atmosphere- it would be akin to adding a 5 gallon bucket of 100 degree water to an Olympic sized pool of 95 degree water- it would very quickly reach equilibrium- it would not cause the pool to warm up to 100 degrees-

0.00136% of the atmosphere is NOT able to warm our planet- not even close- there has to be another reason for warming (ie sunspot activity- scientists are now claiming we are ‘headed for a MIni-iceage because of diminishing sunspot activity)

Yeah, the parallels between welfare layabouts and plant life are amazing.

No matter how much CO2 we produce, the more plants there are that jump onto the bandwagon to consume it and there is never enough CO2 to support all the plants in style that they are accustomed and entitled to .

We better start adding a lot more CO2 if it warms the atmospher - A LOT MORE as we are entering a solar sunspot minimum and temperatures will reach new lows or a Modern Minium - forecast to last until at least 2035.

the sick thing though is that if we enter a ‘mini-iceage’ as scientists are now suggesting- the left will scream we are causing global cooling- no matter which way the wind blows- they have predetermined man is to blame- ‘man-caused global climate change’ is a scam through and through

Remember that junk DNA? Remember epigenetics in which environmental factors alter gene expression, rather than having changes expressed in the gene code itself?

Plants for millennia have been starving with the miserly amount of Co2 remaining. The question is, what are they plotting to do now that they’ve awakened? ;^)
