Seems to be a lot of interest in these lately so here's a perspective on vanities:
http://dressingtablemirrorsmoi.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-history-of-vanity-table.html
Within the centuries the vanity table has been created in a multitude of styles by master craftsmen and also have accented the era that they came. In the following paragraphs we'll take a look at a variety of styles that appear to possess was the ages, where vanity tables are worried.
The Victorian vanity tables were quite elaborate and included intricate detailing. Frequently early American vanity tables may have been produced from mahogany coupled with curved cabriole legs although others could have been produced from solid walnut with claw ft.
Throughout the Crafts and arts movement from the early 1900's the "mission oak" vanity table was produced with straight lines. But because the 1920's advanced and seem was put into movies the vanity table grew to become a focus in sleeping rooms plus some maintained as Hollywood vanities.
Although not the Depression era could stop producing the vanity table by the mid 1920's using both mahogany and walnut veneers were becoming prominent. Such vanity tables throughout the 1920's and thru towards the 1940's were frequently covered in elaborate veneers. The designs around were referred to as v-matched up quarter sliced oriental wood, quarter sliced zebra wood, v-matched up candy striped walnut or even the bird's eye walnut to title but a couple of from the veneers getting used.
However a design that found prominence throughout the 1930's was the Waterfall Furniture Collection which included smooth rounded edges and also the tables had large round mirrors (incidents where had electric lights placed underneath the mirror). Plus there have been the skill Moderne metal dressing tables also attaining recognition that have been sleek coupled with artificial wood graining. But through the late 1940's and early 50's the vanity table had been produced from selected hardwood floors. This gave a less complicated simpler turn to the table's appearance and lots of included a middle drawer in addition to additional drawers lower both sides.
But to this day the benefit of the vanity table has moved now for the many wonderful add-ons that are required by women for his or her beautification. So really no vanity table could be complete with no couple of of these for example vintage perfume bottles or perhaps a beautiful porcelain talcum shaker to accomplish the appearance.
And here's a collection of photos showing vanities in their natural habitat and some that have been removed to unnatural settings.

ROTFL! Great set of vanities... :-)
Let me be the first. Oh, the huge vanity!
You’re so vain ...
Quite vain.
Good play on words. (BTW, if you haven’t donated today to FR, and you have posted on FR vanity posts, please do, it won’t help with the pre-election jitters, but it is the right thing to do.)
Back to vanities. I think they are pretty. Two out of five of the vacation rentals have had them, but I don’t like them.
I like to stand while I fix my hair and apply make-up. I also like to clean the area beneath me with a wet paper towel afterwards.
Your selection is very pretty. Of all of them, I like the 1920 art deco vanity table my sister bought at the Salvation Army in the 1980’s for around $25.
That’s a $25 donation to FR! New rule.
Opps! I did not see the sink vanities. Excuse me. I am sorry. It was vainglorious attempt.
Very similar. You have MI and NV and not PA. Interesting.
Is the screen name Vanna Dee available?
Nicely done Rebel, nicely done.
Nice reference.
Oh, you’re going to jibber jabber about jibber jabber.
This is a news forum. But I sure am seeing a lot of vanity posts lately.
You know our readers generally frown on vanities (unless exceptional in quality) so if you feel the urge to post yet another run of the mill vanity, please resist it.
Or, in the very least, be sure to submit a donation along with your vanity submission.

I suggest you make an extra $25.00 donation:
I’m so busy that my vanity is my car’s rearview mirror.
Which broke, btw. Before this car I had never owned a car newer than 91. So when I saw “Auto dimming mirror” I didn’t know what to think.
Well it’s broken. It doesn’t dim. And I don’t have a switch because ... It’s automatic. As in, it automatically broke the moment I bought the car.
But what’s better is that Liquid Crystals couldn’t keep up with the temps in a car, so it’s full of Liquid Ammonia crystals. Well ... it leaked.
And it reacted with the cleaners and coatings on my console and etched it.
This is most elaborate story I have ever told or heard about a broken mirror.
I wonder what they would look like in a huge bonfire.
