So it tastes like cheap gin?
Why not just get a good brandy?
When in doubt, distill and distill again.
Yeah - before the usual gin botanicals are added. Straight-up paint thinner.
My first introduction to Grappa was in a trattoria in Sienna.
Waitress came up after dinner and said “We have something we’d like you to try, on the house. Just don’t do shots, it’s dangerous.”
Was stationed 4 years in Aviano Italy , 2 years at other sites in Italy, 6 years all together..... loved the stuff, espresso, gelato and straight up shots with russian fire water (ficoro di russia) , benedictine straight from the monastery , lambrusco and toccai .... love northern Italy to this day.
Ciao Coppo
Thanks for posting. A couple of years ago I was staying with some Italian friends who brought me to Bassano del Grappa and the Grappa museum. Fun place with exhibits that dispense a mist of various flavors of Grappa
Indeed, Brandy or Cognac, much better. Grappa is from the left overs used to make wine, I believe
put it in my strong morning coffee when I visited mom’s hometown jeselo lido. good that way.
Ha! Malört! You will regret it!

It was only $14 a bottle when I purchased it. I had a total of 2 drinks. I was visiting someone in Wisconsin at the time. I set the bottle down and forgot to pick it up again. If some Freeper in Wisconsin finds it you’re welcome to it!
“...cheap, harsh plonk!”
Nailed it! :)
Pete? You KNOW you can trust me.
I would steal your heart, steal your wallet and steal your chocolate, but I would NEVER steal your Grappa!
*HEART*
It’s seductive. Drink the first one but the second one is better.
It’s a quickly acquired taste.
Sambuca! Gaaaak.
Wow Nick! This site even has an article on “Spirits To Use For Not-Gross #SpiritCooking”

:)
Diana—Don’t take my grappa, or Aquavit! But you—or anyone else who finds it—are welcome to that lost bottle of malort!
If I find it, I will drain it down the sink and recycle the bottle! :)
Sorry Nick, Grappa taste like s***. I would much rather sip on any other German or Hungarian schnapps.
