The claim is a programmer, seeking an iOS bug to win an Apple bug bounty, created a webpage script that caused iPhones that clicked on it to repeatedly loop call 911 over and over again causing a denial of service attack on 911 services, with the only way to stop dialing was to force quit the iPhone (I think you can force quit the phone app.) or remove the battery! I frankly don't believe the programmer's excuse. This type of script could work on any phone. I think it was a deliberate act. — PING!

Thanks to Loud Mime for the head's up. Ping to Dayglored and ThunderSleeps for their lists.

Right. 911 was just accidentally used. It could have been ANY number but he chose 911. Yep, just an accident. You betcha.

Last place I lived, there was no 911 service. I never thought there were places without it until I lived there.
Place I live at now has it but with a 25 minute or more wait....not much use.

Isn’t anyone else concerned about how vulnerable our systems are? We would be absolutely devastated in a cyberwar.

Folks were yugely disappointed when they were unable to call 911 after the pizza guy delivered anchovy instead of pepperoni pizza.
