Of course they put the story involving Teri Garr last.

Brooks told them: Ladies and gentlemen, youve just seen a two-hour-and-22-minute failure. In less than three weeks, I want you back here to see a 95-minute smash-hit movie. I bet he just cut out all the bits where the audience didn't laugh...

I watched the movie last night on TCM. Classic. Every scene is funny and makes fun of older movies. Peter Boyle from Everybody Loves Raymond plays the monster, Marty Feldman grabbed the wrong brain, Teri Garr is always wearing a gown, and Cloris Leachman steals the show with her fine acting.

Terri Garr was originally cast to play the part of Elizabeth (Madeline Khan). But Kahn wanted the part of Elizabeth. The story I have long heard was Terri Garr then did the German accent and Brooks was sold.

I like much of Mel Brooks movies, but I’ve never cared much for Young Frankenstein. I thought it to be somewhat dull and tedious . To each his own bellylaugh. Of course i thought Don Knots was an underrated comedy genius. Does anyone else remember The Incredible Mr. Limpett?

Now I want to see the “two-hour-and-22-minute failure.”

Great read. Great director, writers, and actors! I sooo miss those days. $2.4 million won’t give you the home you think it would in Brentwood. Much less a major film in this day and age. And Hollywood today lacks EVERYTHING it took to make great films like this back then.

I’m not a huge Mel Brooks film fan, but this one was a masterpiece.

His mother thought for a moment and said, The monster lives in Romania . . . Romania is not near the ocean. Hes going to have to go a long way to get to a boat. Then he has to have money to pay for his passage. He may not have any money if he is just a monster. He may not have pockets. Lets say he gets a boat to America. The boat may go to Miami. But if it goes to New York and he gets off, he doesnt know the subway system. Lets say he gets to Brooklyn. He doesnt know our street. Lets say he does find our street. The people on the first floor have their window open. If hes hungry, he is going to eat whos ever on the first floor.
What kid could argue back with logic like that! LOL!
