Found this regarding the Hatch act on wikipedia:

It (the Hatch Act) provided that persons below the policy-making level in the executive branch of the federal government must not only refrain from political practices that would be illegal for any citizen, but must abstain from "any active part" in political campaigns, using this language to specify those who are exempt:[5]

(i) an employee paid from an appropriation for the Executive Office of the President; or

(ii) an employee appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, whose position is located within the United States, who determines policies to be pursued by the United States in the nationwide administration of Federal laws.

The director of the FBI is appointed by the President with the advise and consent of the senate. I'm thinking he has a hand in determining "policies to be pursued by the United States in the nationwide administration of Federal laws".

Seems like the Hatch Act doesn't apply to Comey. I'm guessing he knew that before he proceeded with this.

Looks like “Hatch Act” is the talking point for the next couple of days. You can just hear the CNN phones dialing up their experts for three-on-a-screen discussions.

Wondering if this Richard Painter is the same dude who made a couple of small, around $20, donations to Donald Trump this summer. IF so, why did Paintee do that...?

This Hatch Act business is dumb. The act does not bar covered officials from performing their official duties, no matter what the effect on elections. One could probably make a better case that Comey’s earlier statement about not continuing the investigation violated the act.

He is a lawyer, and by definition has no scruples. It’s all about the money...

At this point it doesn’t matter. Even if Democrats try to suppress the news, it would even look worse for Hillary if they try to stop the investigation it in its tracks.

I have to state the obvious points here

1. Another confirmation that the GOPe and the RATS are one and the same.....and

2. Which part of what Comey has done are they going to go after? THE part where he cleared her the first time or the part where he reversed his decision (1st mistake)?

Considering how the whole DNC conspired against Bernie Sanders, despite the fact that their constituency was far more enthusiastic about him than about Hilary, I’d say they better sit down and shut up.

Thank you. I have been frustrated by the sloppy way the Hatch Act has been posited.
