Former Bush Ethics Lawyer Files Complaint Against FBI Director for Email Disclosures

The former chief ethics lawyer at the White House during George W. Bush’s presidency has filed an ethics complaint against FBI Director James Comey. In an op-ed published in the New York Times on Sunday, Richard W. Painter writes that he filed a complaint against the FBI for violating the Hatch Act, "which bars the use of an official position to influence an election." He filed the complaint with both the Office of Special Counsel and the Office of Government Ethics.

ainter, who was the head White House ethics lawyer between 2005 and 2007 and now supports Hillary Clinton, says Comey violated the Hatch Act when he sent the letter to lawmakers on Friday informing them of the newly discovered emails. “This letter, which was quickly posted on the internet, made highly unusual public statements about an FBI investigation concerning a candidate in the election,” writes Painter. “The letter was sent in violation of a longstanding Justice Department policy of not discussing specifics about pending investigations with others, including members of Congress.”

It was NOT a re-opening. It was never closed. The direction from Congress "return to them" says it all.

And Comey sent the letter to Congress....not to the media. I'm certain there must have been a response from Congress for Comey to show them his hand....and he did.

So who leaked it to the media?

“Let’s say hypothetically Comey “did” violate Hatch act, even though it doesn’t seem to apply to him. What can they do?”

Exactly. Comey has already let this particular cat out of the bag. There ain’t no puttin’ it back.

This is probably a major shot over Comey’s bow. “Shut up Comey, or go to jail.”

This is over. They got her. This was the plan and she fell for it. They knew where those emails were in July. Trey Gowdy said to Chris Wallace last night, This investigation was never closed. Mike Pence was laughing at Mikes questions last night . He knows, Trump knows she is toast. The FBI will play this out after the transfer of power. This week the media will turn and Trump will win per the media. Enough info will be released to assure she doesn’t win.

Gets weirder. IF this guy is the same guy who made the 2 $20 donations in July, look what he writes a week after the last one...

From googling...Removal from position is the only approved penalty under the Hatch act..

Anyone else have a clear expository on the hatch act?

Even ex Bushie Alberto Gonzales said this morning that the Hatch Act does not apply in this situation.

Trey Gowdy has also said the same!

FWIW, if this is the same guy who donated to Trump and has a relation working for Hillary, screw the Hatch Act. This guy’s a plant.

This Hatch Act business is dumb. The act does not bar covered officials from performing their official duties, no matter what the effect on elections. One could probably make a better case that Comey’s earlier statement about not continuing the investigation violated the act.

The Real Clinton Foundation Revelation
By RICHARD W. PAINTER

EXCERPT

I’m a Republican, but I believe that Hillary Clinton is the only qualified major party candidate in the race and she should become president. Yet to win, and certainly to succeed as president, she needs to demonstrate that she understands how much appearances matter, as well as facts and law, and that the president should not unnecessarily open herself up to attack.

It is becoming clearer everyday that the Clinton Crime family and the Bush Crime family are one in the same. Just listen to Karl on Fox. His mind is so envious of Trump, that his sentences are not even coherent anymore.

He is a lawyer, and by definition has no scruples. It’s all about the money...

At this point it doesn’t matter. Even if Democrats try to suppress the news, it would even look worse for Hillary if they try to stop the investigation it in its tracks.

Comey isn't using his official authority or influence for the purpose of interfering with or affecting the result of an election. his purpose is to apply the laws of this country fairly and impartially even when those laws were broken by Hillary Clinton or other powerful individuals.

He is not actively campaigning for a candidate or otherwise participating in a political campaign. He has expressed no political opinion or bias.

If Hillary Clinton murdered someone today in front of a bunch of television cameras, would we have to just let it slide because arresting her might influence the outcome of the election? Hell no.

I have to state the obvious points here

1. Another confirmation that the GOPe and the RATS are one and the same.....and

2. Which part of what Comey has done are they going to go after? THE part where he cleared her the first time or the part where he reversed his decision (1st mistake)?
