This isn't a mystery. EV D-68 was almost unheard of in the United States prior to 2014. It was first seen in the US in 1962, and there had never been an outbreak in more than one state. Only about 26 cases recorded in American history. Then in 2014, it appeared in 40 states almost simultaneously. What happened in 2014? Well, Obama welcomed 300,000 child immigrants from Central America and his Department of Homeland Security shipped them to all 50 states. EV D-68 is very common in Central America. Anyone can research these facts for themselves. Open borders have consequences.

Outrageous. The crime is bad enough, I wish Trump would talk more about all the diseases we are opening ourselves up to with open borders.
This country virtually asks for the influx of population killing disease. It allows millions of illegals, even legal immigrants and refugees to forego medical screening except for the most archaic things (like TB xrays, etc.)
They have given a pass/pardon to immigrants with aids, terminal health issues and have turned their eyes away from even the most vicious, insidious disease coming from the south and the rest of the third, fourth and fifth world.
Furthermore, they have their BS watchdog - the Centers for Disease Control - out there spreading the party line “We think this mosquito, this fish, this bird, this whatever, anything except these effing unscreened immigrants are the problem.”
Frankly, I don’t believe a damned thing the CDC says or does. This was pretty much evidenced to me when that director said that you couldn’t get Ebola by non-contact (i.e, coughing or sneezing) — a blatant lie he was forced to admit on TV.....
Do people in LA know how to read? Why is there no outrage?
I remember taking sugar cubes with the polio vaccine circa 1960. Long lines at the schools where entire families went to get the vaccine free.

Actually, this has nothing to do with immigration. But what it means is still unsettling.
EV D-68 has been in the US for decades. It was a cold so mild that it barely created any symptoms, so was generally ignored.
There are 71 human enterovirus serotypes, of these, just a few were believed to cause human polio. The rest, including EV D-68 were believed to be genetically too far away to cause the disease.
Apparently they were mistaken. Which likely means that “polio” will be with us for a long time, even if it is a different virus.
