National Cat Day is observed each year on October 29th.
National Cat Day was founded to help the public recognize the number of cats that need to be rescued. The day also encourages cat lovers to celebrate the cats in their lives for the unconditional love and companionship that they bestow upon them.

This day is sponsored by the Animal Miracle Foundation and was created by Pet Lifestyle Expert and Animal Welfare Advocate, Colleen Paige, in 2005. Since its inception, it has helped save the lives of more than one million cats.

My big boy cat sure picked a bad day to be in the dog house: the little prick decided that waking us up early was a good idea this morning, so he gets the cold-shoulder treatment all day, National Cat Day or not.

In my youth there was always a cat, one was my best friend for 15 years. Mom and Dad allowed the cat in the house, the dogs, however, had a large run behind the barn and a kennel pen inside the barn and the dogs were seldom allowed in the house. I had a cat a few times when first married and then for about 15 or so years no cat until one of my kids brought home a young Tom in need of a home. Well Mr. Personality plus, was neutered to stop his spraying, (thankfully it worked) and I will say as much as I love my lady dogs, the cat rocks, he ads an element of both humor and comfort to our family-pack. We are lucky to have him in our lives and he knows it.
