De Blasio administration finds a way to ruin food trucks
New York Post ^ | October 27, 2016 | Michael Gartland

The de Blasio administration is trying to limit the number of food trucks in the city by claiming that each hot-dog and kabob cart causes more pollution than a truck ride to Los Angeles.

Deputy Health Commissioner Corinne Schiff made the claim at a City Council hearing Wednesday, in an apparent effort to sink a bill that would nearly double the number of food-vendor permits in the city by 2023.

“Meat grilling is a significant source of air pollution in the city,” Schiff said. “One additional vendor grilling meat emits an amount of particle pollution in one day equivalent to what a diesel truck emits driving 3,500 miles.”

If you live in NYC, there’s another side to this issue, and it’s not the union, although that could be Cuomo’s reason. It’s the fact that the AirBnb-ers are not your neighbors. They smoke like chimneys, leave the outside doors open so they can get back in easily after their many cigarettes, are not familiar with the building, are not familiar with the local laws, bring dogs in some cases that bark in their strange surroundings, and in general treat your home building like a hotel where they never intend to set foot again.

In the big prewar buildings with the huge apartments, tiny rooms are being constructed along the window views, much to the annoyance of the legitimate tenants, who prefer the “quiet enjoyment” of their homes to the racket and dust and inconvenience of construction work, and not to have their building so overpopulated (elevators, laundry room, doorman service, etc.).

A slow destruction of part of our housing stock is also happening, as apartments that could house some of our almost 60,000 homeless are being used by wealthy out-of-towners.

The anti-helicopter movement used to have a great slogan: New York Is Not a Theme Park.

New Yorkers elected a tyrannical, Marxist control freak.

Now someone’s disappointed that they have to live with it?

“For the planet” is an all-encompassing solution even better than “for the children” since some don’t care about the kids and the children grow up and could say “we don’t want that”. When you speak for the planet, it never talks back and provides global coverage for anything. (pun intended)

Wish someone would say in front of the City Council:
“How much money to be “donated” to the democrat party to make this go away?”

Starting a small business + selling food = capitalism.
Capitalism must die.
Cooking food = pollution = ban cooking.
People must die.

Except, of course, government people with a personal chef on staff.

That’s your choice, and you should have it. So should everybody else. Plus the vendors should have the opportunity to start a business and earn a living. This is (or was) America.
Halal food carts is more of an immigration issue, IMO. The Muslims shouldn’t be flooding in to begin with.

I suppose we can now cancel Obama's EPA diesel truck regulations if they put out less emissions than a hot dog?

See how it works? Global warming is all about control. Is it a lie? Sure it is but the only thing that matters is getting what they want.

CONTROL

My point was that they took over all the carts. That’s why I mentioned Sabrett’s. I know of a couple of Mexican carts, which don’t always appear, that do not say “halal” on the outside of the cart. That’s it. So they monopolized a beloved industry and ruined it. So we don’t really have a choice anymore.

How many of them do you want in YOUR building?
