Bobby Vee, best known for hits including Rubber Ball, Take Good Care of My Baby and The Night Has a Thousand Eyes, has died at the age of 73.
Vee released more than 25 albums during his career, retiring in 2011 after being diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.
Vee's son Jeff Velline said the singer died peacefully surrounded by family on Monday.
It was "the end of a long hard road", Mr Velline said.
He described his father as "a person who brought joy all over the world", adding: "That was his job."

Sad news. He got his start as the replacement for Buddy Holly on the Winter Dance Party after Holly’s death.
Gene Pitney wrote his hit, “Rubber Ball”
He had a lot of hits. Distinctive hits. If you don’t crank the radio when a Bobby Vee comes on, man you don’t have a pulse.
Was “Bobby V” related to “T-Bone” Burnett or the fusion group “Brand X”?
Dylan did a few gigs on piano for Vee when Vee was still regional to to Upper Midwest. They weren’t really friends, but they did have a surprising affection for each other as North Country guys.
I believe Dylan occasionally sings a Bobby Vee song at his concerts.
Went to Youtube to see a few of his concerts; I can see why the teenies back then were in love with him.
I can’t believe he was only 11 years older than me.
Not to be confused wuth Bobby Vinton (the Polish Prince)who is still around at age 81.
His family name is Velline. Bobby Vee was short for Bobby Velline.
Interesting choice of a stage name. Sort of like Murray Kaufmann the DJ was “Murray the K”.
Alzheimer’s is a tough row to hoe, for everyone involved. RIP to a great talent.
Roses are red, my love, Violets are blue...,
Now I can’t this stupid song out of my head after decades of trying. This is one signer’s album my mom played over and over and over until an “accident happened” one bright sunny day and the vinyl album lay in several pieces at the base of a cement wall.
You are evil :)
Interesting. He was a good man.
The Swingin’ Soiree
Didn’t he sing “Roses Are Red”? That’s one of my favorites.
“Roses Are Red” was made famous by Bobby Vinton. A great pop star in his own right, but not Bobby Vee.
Think “Take Good Care of my Baby”. THAT’s Bobby Vee.
Yes, I remember now. Thanks.
