Came across an odd e-mail in the state department area of Wikileaks. Apparantly after the big earthquake there in 2009, former PA Governor Ed Rendell was trying to get Haitian orphans out of Haiti and into Pennsylvania. He had, according to several earlier e-mails, gotten many out but there were 14 that the Haitians gave permission to go but who for some reason the State Department wouldn't let him bring back. This played out over months and at least one died waiting.
Some exceprts:
"I just spoke to Gov. Rendell, and he is strongly urging the WH/State Dept. to allow the orphans into the US. He claims Haitian Government has signed off on it, and US is now standing in the way. He is not open to the argument that we need to follow protocols, and claims we are being bureaucratic. He says if another orphan dies, it will be on us."
Caitlin/Nora - although the decision has not been finalized, Gov Rendell has probably figured out that the 12 children from the Bresma orphanage will not be approved for humanitarian parole. His staff is stating that one of the orphans slated to go to the U.S. has died "within the last few days." I understand that a child at the Bresma orphanage died within the last couple of weeks; that child, reportedly, had been matched with a French adoptive family. In any event, Gov. Rendell is pushing very hard for the USG to permit the children to travel, and dismissing our reasons for not having done so as "bureaucratic."
Hillary is in this e-mail chain personally and in one e-mail says she wants to discuss it when she arrives so it wasn't some low level flunky blocking this. So my question: why did Hillary let orphans die in Haiti but wants to let limitless numbers of muslims from Syria in?

One reason mentioned in the e-mails as the bureaucratic reason is the children are not listen in the system. Wonder why orphans in a ruined country have to be vetted fully but potential muslim terrorists are free to come right on in, no vetting required?
I wonder what her speaking fee would be to rescue or even do anything humane for the Haitians?

Her charity took 90% of the donations and helped others with 10%. One guy wrote that she ran $200B through her charity.

She had no problem letting one of her ambassadors die while she was SoS; what’s the big deal about a few orphans?
Mass onslaughts of orphans are created by bad parents. Their problem, not ours.
My take from the emails is that this was a publicity stunt by Rendell and Univ of Pittsburgh Medical Center to rescue the orphans after the earthquake. This publicity stunt was in competition with a similar effort by a potential Republican candidate for Congress. Their effort was thwarted by the Homeland Security vetting process, leading Rendell to throw a mighty fit. Mills et al felt that the only way to shut him up might be a call from Madame Secretary Clinton. In the end, it appears that the orphans were forced to stay in Haiti. One died during the process, and Rendell insisted that it was blood on State’s hands.
So, it wasn’t Clinton per se who led to the rejection, but an insistence by State that the vetting protocols be enforced. Rendell’s pull couldn’t overcome bureaucratic inertia.
Kind of stark...I mean if they were relatively attractive I’m sure they were on the pedophile flights/island for Bill Clinton.
There were large areas of Haiti that were unaffected by the effects of the earthquake. Why weren’t Haitians allowed to adopt the orphans in-place?
You mean the vetting protocols that have been ignored for all the illegal immigrants and muslim transplants that the Obama administration is importing? 12 orphans are waaaay more dangerous to the nation than anyone who might come in from those other groups.
