My sister's neighbor, her "adopted daughter", if you will, is trying to raise money to go from Brooklyn to Montreal with a van to rescue as many pit bulls as she can before they are put down this Monday under a new law. My sister is driving up there. (I'd be going, too, if I weren't allergic!)
Please consider donating, and spreading the word on other sites you use.
Save the pit bulls ONLY if they “put down” the owners!
I agree.I love all animals. This is a compassionate, worthwhile thing the woman is doing.
I’m strongly against abortion but sometimes if a woman is determined to have one , there is nothing you can do.
There is often even less you can do if the woman is not a friend or family member.
Not much chance to try to talk a stranger or a mere acquaintance out of it.
Not sentient beings. I will mock those who treat them as if they are sentient.

Dogs are not "tabula rasa". They are not nurture vs nature. Dogs are selected out for type, intelligence, work and appearance. Teach your grandchildren to herd sheep and prove me wrong.

Sounds to me like the people of Montreal are dealing with them just fine.
Sounds like maybe your Mom shouldn’t have had those dogs.
If an owner can not Contain nor Train their dog properly then it’s best not have it.

As to dogs, we had all sorts of dogs during my childhood, and my mom has owned dogs for all of her 80+ years. Doesn’t take much to teach them to have good manners around house guests, but her pit bull dogs were completely different animals than any we’d ever had. They just had an inborn aggressive streak that overrode Mom’s loving home training.
I don’t know why some people refuse to accept the fact that pit bulls were originally bred to behave exactly as they do. That’s not my opinion - it’s historical fact. Look it up.
I was attempting to be polite, stating facts and certainly wasn't disparaging your Mom.
If these dogs were unable to be trained so that they did not present an uncontrollable threat then they should have been put down.
Whose fault would it have been if these dogs had attacked someone?

'Pit bulls' were not bred to attack humans. Any that did were put down. Also an historical fact that you can look up.
