I would think the team wouldn’t approve of him being out there at 3:00am.
Haven’t heard it mentioned in a while, but I know at one time there was a big push for pro sports contracts to have clauses banning dangerous activities such as motorcycling.
Fernandez was originally scheduled to start today against Atlanta. They pushed him back one day so he could start at home against the Mets. He's a phenomenal pitcher at home, and there's been a simmering feud between the Marlins and Mets over the last few years -- so they were altering their pitching rotation just to do as much damage to the Mets' playoff standing.
I'm sure he wouldn't have been out at 3:00 AM if he was scheduled to start today. Heck -- he wouldn't even have been in Miami.
