Ammon Bundy surprised the court Thursday when he showed up for trial wearing blue jail scrubs, with a pocket Constitution in left shirt pocket.
"Mr. Bundy desires to appear as he is, a political prisoner not free to dress as if presumed innocent," attorney J. Morgan Philpot said, reading his client's statement. "He would prefer to drop the façade and appear as the political prisoner he has been made"....shuffled around in chains, molested like an animal," and not given the "utensils" he needs to prepare for trial.
U.S. District Judge Anna J. Brown asked Bundy to stand. She inquired whether it was his choice to appear in jail attire, and if anyone took his suit away.
"Your honor, I have no comment," he replied.
The judge told him she must know if his decision was voluntary.
"I have no comment," he repeated.
Philpot interjected, "Mr. Bundy feels he really has no choice--that that's been taken from him."
Controversy surrounding Bundy's attire began just before jury selection, when he objected to a U.S. Marshal's policy that he not be allowed to wear cowboy boots, a belt or necktie. In his objection to that policy, his lawyer argued that a juror could draw an inference that he was not presumed innocent as he was being held in custody and did not look like the other out-of-custody defendants.
The judge then denied his objections and Bundy came to court in a tan suit jacket, white dress shirt and loafers.......
The judge allowed Ammon Bundy to remain in the standard jail scrubs--blue shirt over pink T-shirt and blue pants.
She did, though, alert jurors to the change.
"You are not to draw any inference of anykind from his attire today or any day," Brown said.

Outside supporters of the seven defendants protested and a man from outside the protest showed up with an old unloaded rifle and was arrested.
The police know this guy, he once protested naked and was busted for indecent exposure.
If I was on that jury he’d not get a guilty vote from me for anything.
I wouldn’t change my attire.
“I wouldnt change my attire.”
Then the smart a$$ judge holds you in contempt, puts you back in jail, and the trial goes on without you.
You have to be present to receive the verdict.
When does Lavoy Finicum get his day in court? Would be nice to see him get some justice that he deserves.
Anyone see the BLM thugs being held without bond in federal jails after terrorizing and burning American cities?
Nope. Not a one. They even get taxpayer money now.
Too bad Ammon has the wrong skin color.
Yup. Double standard.
Ditto.
I pray for justice for his family.
They're just a herd of government sheep, who will chant "four legs good, two legs better!", right on cue...
in the meantime HRC walks on everything.....
Justice is coming one day soon .
Trump the corruption in Washington DC
Just as well. This is a kangaroo court. The “trial” is a show trial. The outcome has already been decided. Bundy is a dead man. The only question remaining to be answered is when and how they will kill him. Will it be a “drug test” as in the case of Jim McDougal? Or will he commit “suicide: in his cell by hanging himself? Not that he wants or seeks my advice, but my advice to him would be to use the remaining breathing time they give him to make peace with his Maker.
hen does the trial start for the Oregon state troopers and FBI aholes who killed Lavoy Finicum?
