When I was a kid, and even through my adult years, standing at attention (if you wore one, hat off) was the proper way to respect our The National Anthem.
NOW ... I see more and more .. people putting their hands over their hearts when The National Anthem is played.
I remember people putting their hands over their hearts when the Flag passed by during a parade .... it was the civilian allowance of a salute.

This is really unbelievable to me. This is a woman who has been embraced as a USA Women's team soccer player, and no one cared/cares that she is gay. The USA Women's soccer team coach is gay, and no one cared/cares about that. They have been afforded great careers and public adoration for what they do, and given the honor of representing the USA. How is that suppression of liberties?
Being gay has had stigma attached to it. That's life, and it clearly has changed dramatically. Racism has changed dramatically. Anti-Semitism contributed to the horrific gas chamber deaths of millions of Jews, and there remains anti-Semitism. I don't see her on her knee before games for that.
As for the quarterback, he makes more money annually than most people will see in a lifetime, and his race certainly did not hold him back. He is, also, half white - so prejudice/racism didn't stop his white mother from conceiving him with a black father, and loving him. This has gone on way too far. Try going other places in the world to see real oppression.
I used to boo Carlos Delgado, when he played against my Yankees. Better if the SOB snuck out to take a leak during the anthem instead of sitting in the dugout and disrespecting America for all to see.
