I am considering getting Amazon Prime and canceling Netflix. I currently have the Netflix where I get mailed physical DVDs. There is lag time and it's a pain in the behind to have to go find a mailbox to ship them back. I have found that while Netflix has a large quantity of movies in their selection, the quality is not there. I'd say that only about 15-20% of their movies seem worth watching, not being dirty or stupid.
How would you compare the selection of Netflix movies to those of Amazon Prime?
That’s a tough one. I have both.
If you want a specific movie, Amazon has more.
But unless it is fairly recent, you’ll still have to buy it a la carte usually.
I have to say that YouTube is getting some good documentaries lately. I’ve stopped my “Curiosity Stream” and “Great Courses” as there are so many good ones on YouTube.
Just saying...
I prefer Netflix, but I can’t get it in Indonesia. I have tried a VPN but Netflix balks at that.
So, I say, go with Amazon Prime.
Yeah, putlocker is the way to go if you want to be infected with computer viruses. They don’t charge extra for those, BTW.
I prefer Amazon Prime. I just canceled my Netflix. It depends on what you like to watch.
Just re-flash the SOC, swap in a fresh SD card and the Pi is reborn :-)
Stream them via WIFI on a smart TV for 10 bucks a month
Back when Netflix was mailing movies to the customers the catalog was much larger. There were older films, obscure hard to find movies etc... now the selections are diminished. I find myself buying used to get those classics I enjoy.
I have both, and in my opinion Netflix is better. More options to watch, a friendlier interface on my tv screen, and the option to have hard copy dvds sent if the program won’t stream.
the one option Amazon has is the option to purchase the digital copy. I have used that a few times for shows/movies I want to own.
But if I had to choose one or the other, I’d go Netflix.
I have amazon prime because I bought that “two day shipping” thing and the movies were included. I didn’t go out looking for amazon’s streaming service.
I’ve had Apple TV, have DirectV, Amazon Prime with Hulu and Starz add-ons, and have Netflix.
IMO, the Apple TV sux. Doesn’t have enough memory and buffers too much, a pi$$ poor menu interface and finicky - I gave both of mine to my daughter when I got the Amazon Fire TV set. Works Great! Almost no delays now, even when it’s connected wirelessly to the router.
I have DirectV and hate it but I’ve held off because of the DVR, but with Amazon Prime, Neflix, Hulu and Starz, that is fast becoming a very expensive hold on. It costs $98/month and at the end of this month I cancel it.
With what Prime costs, Netflix, Hulu and Starz costs it is still about half of that. I could add Sling and Showtime and still not hit $98/month. Saying goodbye to DirectV......
Never had netflix but Amazon prime has tons of choice. Most movies today leave me cold, but there are some good ones.
I've been a subscriber of both Netflix and Amazon Prime for several years.
I recommend Amazon Prime for movies.
The movies on Netflix are 99.999% B movies that you've never heard of.
If it weren't for the Netflix produced shows exclusive to Netflix (House of Cards, Daredevil, Stranger Things), I would cancel my subscription.
Amazon Prime has a LOT of newer major release Hollywood movies that are free for subscribers. Plus, you get the other perks of Amazon Prime membership such as reduced price for items and free shipping.
I recommend Amazon Prime.
Bkmrk.
Amazon Prime has almost nothing compared to Netflix. Pointless. I never find myself watching.
Hulu has a user interface that is more than frustrating. Its maddeningly counter intuitive and inconvenient. I cancelled my free trial of Hulu.
For British TV which is some of the best, Acorn is excellent.
For some reason, the hall monitor nerd deleted them.
None of the above, but we do have Netflix.
Now who has the best movies, not considering Netflix or Amazon?
It’s Turner Classic for cable and Classic Reel for streaming.
Just about any modern movie or TV rerun is laced with leftism on the order of homosexuality, anti-gun ideology, feminism to name a few. Add to that wall to wall gory bloody violence, foul language, excess special effects, nudity and sex and modern TV just is not suitable for us.
We quit mainstream TV about 4 years ago and stream only. If we want we can get news propaganda via our TV antennae.
Strong VPN. They will send you a router with the VPN software installed. Have used it for the past 6 years. Had to buy a new router last year though.
