Trudeau’s China strategy fails unless he gets a pipeline built

What’s at issue is the pace of extraction, the means of shipment (rail or pipe), the degree and nature of carbon offsets, access to markets, and consequently the price. Currently, Texas-bound Canadian heavy crude trades at a discount to the global price. De facto, the United States has in Canada a captive supplier. Former prime minister Stephen Harper threatened, after President Barack Obama shelved the Keystone XL pipeline project in 2012, to sell our oil to China instead....

Here’s why this matters, particularly in light of Trudeau’s signature promise to boost property for Canada’s middle class: The resource economy, mineral extraction in the north and oil and gas in the west, is the last bastion of well-paying private-sector jobs accessible to workers without advanced degrees. Consider the jobs that will accrue from the massive up-front investment — upwards of $50 billion, given the various projects currently stymied — in pipeline construction, refurbishment and expansion.

The Liberal strategy so far has been to remain aloof, while imposing new layers of oversight that will supposedly yield broad public acceptance of the need for pipelines. It isn’t working; indeed the opposite is happening. And now Trudeau is in China, laying the groundwork for a bustling  future trade in oil for which Canada is utterly unprepared.

Contrary to the headline, Turd-owe's strategy is working perfectly: screw the West! What his old man failed at, he is determined to succeed at.

But on a lighter note, let's compare a couple of famous Québécois:

Dollard des Ormeau Dullard de Papineau

(Unfortunately, only those with some knowledge of Québec history and Federal Ridings will fully appreciate the photos and captions.)

Now you have done it!
The last thing I had on my mind this evening was Quebec history and Federal Ridings. Now I have to look it up.

Like his old man, Trudeau embraces murderous socialist dictators.

I had thought, the Energy East Pipeline was a GO?

IIRC unemployment was over 10%, in some areas along the route.

Pipelines create many high paying construction jobs, and more at the terminals.

Canada now has someone to compete with Obama for the uselessness and foolishness prize.

Jobs mean less dependence on FedGouvCan. Turd-owe would NEVER allow such a thing! As I noted above, Dullard de Papineau. Unfortunately, we are left with him for another few years. He possesses the arrogance of his father and the intelligence of his mother, not a helpful combination.
