As health insurers head for the exits, Americans who have been whipsawed by ObamaCare may get whacked again this fall: First, they were thrown off private plans that were declared illegal, then they were forced into the ObamaCare exchanges, and now they could face the prospect of being shut out of coverage through their exchanges entirely for 2017. In Arizona’s Pinal County, for example, no insurers are offering coverage through the exchange. While decisions won’t be final until next month, people in other counties could face a similar fate.
Elsewhere, millions of Americans will have a “choice” of just one carrier, especially in rural areas. It’s likely that Alabama, Alaska, and Oklahoma will have only one health insurer selling individual coverage on their exchanges next year. South Carolina and most of North Carolina could join that list as well. Nearly one-third of the nation’s counties are likely to have just one insurer offering health plans on the exchanges next year: Last year, 50 Texas counties had only one insurer offering individual plans, according to data from the Texas Department of Insurance. Next year, Texans in 57 counties will have only one choice. Exchange customers in many Florida counties will be offered only the Blues plans.
United Healthcare, Humana, and some Blues plans were the first start the exodus from the ObamaCare exchanges. But when Aetna CEO Mark Bertolini announced in mid-August that his company will dramatically reduce its individual public exchange participation to just four states, it created an earthquake. Aetna had been all in for ObamaCare, investing billions to offer coverage through the ACA exchanges. But after losing $430 million in this market since January 2014, Bertolini had to answer to his shareholders.

I got into so many arguments over Obamacare.
I warned people.
I WARNED them.
And I was laughed at, mocked, made fun of, called a racist, blocked on Facebook, dumped from emails. There are people I’ll never talk to again.
Well now, everything I told them is all coming to pass.
I’m glad they’re going bankrupt.
I think it’s funny as Hell.
But don’t worry:
They’re still going to vote for it this fall.
Only one apparent solution .... Feds step in and provide everyone with medicare.
The GOP had a very, very, very long time to fix healthcare.
They did NOTHING.
We have not one leg to stand on, at the moment. Obamacare was not a solution, but we had not presented one.
If you do not have a solution, stop complaining.
If only it were legal for Americans to select a more affordable health care plan based on their individual needs instead of a government-approved health care plan.

Because it didn’t affect them. Their healthcare coverage, paid for by the taxpayers, works fine. Until such time as the laws they pass in Congress apply to the members of Congress and Federal employees, they will change nothing.
Except the Feds will step in with MEDICAID.

Well, free markets & individual responsibility work for me. I guess you’re holding out for a state “solution” -— such solutions always end up working out so well, as they are currently in Venezuela & Cuba. Just ask the citizens of those worker paradises about their medical heavens.
Even back to the 1990s, there were DOZENS of proposals. There were even a lot of Democrat proposals that weren’t nearly as odious, while Clinton claimed no one else had put forth a plan. It was and is, simply a lie.

Since the GOP took control of the House, which of the alternatives has written into an actual bill and passed? Since the GOP took control of both the House and Senate how many actual replacement plans has it passed as legislation and sent to the president for signature? How many bills has the GOP House and Senate passed to correct the most glaring deficiencies in Obamacare such as the absence of a national competitive market?
The proposals and speeches are not legislation. Other than passing symbolic votes to “repeal” Obamacare the GOP has done nothing to address the burden on the American people. The truth is big corporations want to unload employee healthcare costs onto a government single payer system. The GOP is enabling the transition by offering no resistance to the Democrat long term plan to transition to single payer. GOP voters should be blaming the GOP leadership for their soaring healthcare costs and absence of free market competition in healthcare.
ObamaCare was written and passed BEFORE the GOP gained the majority. During that time, the GOP did write nearly a dozen alternatives, maybe more than a dozen, none of which were allowed to reach the floor by Pelosi.

I’m well aware of the history when the GOP was not in power in Congress and the Obamacare bill was pushed through by Nancy Pelosi. I was speaking to the time since January 2011 when the GOP has controlled one or both houses of Congress. Since they’ve had the power to control the legislative process they haven not put one alternative bill on the floor for a vote, much less pass an bill replacing O’care and put it on the president’s desk for signature or veto.
What good is a majority if that majority won’t act? I can assure you as soon as the Democrats have control of both houses of Congress again they will be passing bills to further their agenda.
