Apple just officially announced it will be holding a press event on Sept. 7, where it will launch its next-generation iPhones. What are reportedly official specs for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have just leaked.
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus details continue to leak, just as the company has confirmed earlier reports that it will be holding a press event on Wednesday, Sept. 7, which will also be live-streamed on Apple's website. The smartphones are expected to be made available for preorder on Sept. 9, and if you're planning on purchasing the new iPhones, there are reports that supplies of the handsets may be constrained at launch. The company is also expected to announce its Apple Watch 2, which will reportedly include a GPS chip and larger battery.
The latest iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus leaks come courtesy of a tipster with a decent track record of reporting leaks, and the image above, which was posted on Chinese microblogging site Weibo.
The Malignant tweeted the following about the iPhone 7 from a reliable source, "#iPhone7 from a very RELIABLE source (not me) 4.7" 1334 x 750 LDDR4 2 GB 1960 mAh 1/2.6 F1.9 12 mpx 1.35 µm pixel." The tipster soon followed with another tweet about the iPhone 7 Plus, stating, "#iPhone7Pro from a very reliable source (not me) 5.5" 1920 x 1080 2910 mAh 1/3 F1.9 1200 dual LPDDR4 3 GB."
These specs fall in line with an image that was posted on Weibo, which claims to be the official specs of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The image also confirms the pair will be powered by Apple's latest A10 processor, which recently appeared in a leaked image of the motherboard that will be used in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
The image also claims that the iPhone 7 will use a 1960 mAh battery, which is larger than the iPhone 6s' 1715 mAh battery. The iPhone 7 Plus will reportedly ship with a larger 2910 mAh battery, compared with the iPhone 6s Plus' 2750 mAh battery. The pair will also be IP certified water-resistant, which backs up previous claims, as well as the larger iPhone 7 Plus packing in 3 GB of RAM, while the iPhone 7 will use the same 2 GB currently found in the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone SE. The iPhone 7 will pack in a 12 megapixel rear camera, while the iPhone 7 Plus will come equipped with a dual-lens 12 megapixel shooter.
Apple is expected to bump up the base storage configurations from 16 GB to 32 GB for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and top out storage at 256 GB. Leaked images also appear to show that Apple will introduce a new Space Black color option that will be exclusive to the new iPhones.

Thanks to dayglored for the heads up!
Thanks!
I will be picking up either a new Macbook Pro or what I am leaning towards a new iMac (if they roll out one) in the next 2 months.
I’m done with Microsoft. They trashed my Windows 7 Pro Laptop that had been working great by trying to force me, against my Will, on to the Windows 10 platform.
Tim Cook’s Apple, not worth buying, not much innovation. Steve Jobs must be rolling in his grave.
That battery seems small compared to most Androids.
My 2.5 year old LG G2 is full HD (1920x1080). Gak.
iPhone7 -- 5.5" 1980x1080
A 5.5" LG G4 is 2560x1440. Gak. Gak.
DANG - I just upgraded from a 5 to the SE.
He is getting rid of the useful audio jack.
Now you will see people talking and singing and bobbing their heads and you will figure they are crazy people but they instead have bluetooth headphones and not the wires hanging down from their ears.
They are still crazy.

LOL -— Damn, Apple got rid of the floppy disc and now this elimination of the audio jack. I don’t understand why Apple keeps doing this kind of stuff. What the hell will they be doing next?
Can it place and receive telephone calls?
Why? 538 PPI resolution is almost TWICE the resolution that the human eye can discern at normal viewing distances on that size screen, and FOUR TIMES the number of pixels necessary to be invisible to the human eye with normal 20/20 vision. So why bother to put so many pixels on a device of that size? It's a ridiculous waste of resources and slows down the responsiveness of the device!
The BEST a human eye with 20/20 vision can discern at 10-12 inches is 1 arc second, or 278 PPI. The iPhone's lowest resolution is 326 PPI, far beyond that threshold, which is equivalent to 0.74 arc second, good enough for anyone with 20/15 vision, which only 7% of the population can see. Your 538 PPI resolution is a ridiculous waste of hardware, memory, and bandwidth. It requires too much system resources just to push pixels around the screen for absolutely ZERO discernible user benefit. It's only there for marketing hype.
This is one of the reasons why the Apple iPhones have been consistently beating the pants off of every Android phone in benchmarks and real world speed test. Apple equips its iPhones with exactly what the user needs to optimize the user experience while being able to move the screen at the best speeds for animation.
Having excess pixels in the same area, pixels the which human eye cannot discern, pixels which are NOT a benefit, is NOT something to brag about when their mere existence majorly degrades the performance of the device, nonsporting.
A 4k Ultra High Definition 27 inch computer monitor has only 157 PPI, but it is more than sufficient to be called a Retina display because it is intended to be viewed at approximately 20" to 24" from the user. A 4k 55" Ultra High Definition Television, the state of the art, has only 96 PPI, again because of the distance one views it. In a digital movie theater, with a 35 foot wide screen, the digital image is still at best only a 4K digital image, the resolution is 11 PPI, yet to the audience it still seems sharp and clear.
No, human beings do that. They use phones to help them do it.
Thanks , just checking ... other Apple products have been championed here that absolutely stink at their stated purpose.. Therefore I wasn’t sure about this one.
“My 2.5 year old LG G2 is full HD (1920x1080). Gak.”
1080P at that screen size is enough that the pixels vanish. Thus, “Retina display”. Higher res screens do nothing but sell phones to the gullible, with no tangible benefit. In fact, graphics performance suffers as the benchmarks clearly show.
This is one of many areas where Apple is getting it right.
