Virginia GOP Betraying Base Again? [aw!m vanity]

Posted on 08/28/2016 6:47:10 AM PDT by Arthur Wildfire! March

One of our forum's top campaign hawks, impy, has just warned me that the Virginia GOP is planning to do away with the standard convention process in 2017.

"Virginia is ditching their state convention method of choosing 2017 nominees for Gov/LT Gov/AG, going to a primary. Passed on a 41-40 vote by the State Central Committee , seen as a power play by RINOS to take power from conservative activists..." -- impy

I went to google. Hardly anything about it, just some vague headline referring to a debate 'this weekend'.

We in Virginia have experienced very strange primary antics in the recent past. It would not surprise me if this is true.

Ashamed to admit that I’d have to drive an hour both ways to watch youtube. Could you add a line or two of text?

Oh, don’t worry. It was just a 12-second clip of Anthony Michael Hall in “Weird Science” talking about the telephone. Your exchange with Larry reminded me of that scene.

I don’t know much about Colorado, but here in Virginia we have a Democrat Governor, Lt Governor, Attorney General, and 2 US Senators. Yet the Assembly and Senate are majority Republican. Reasons: Poor long-term development top level candidates; poor scandal management; nominating process that leaves Republican voters disengaged; bias towards campaigning in urban areas where the Republican electorate is weak (there something like a “beltway” mentality but R voting is its mirror image).

What is the CO experience?

“What is the CO experience?”’

very similar; arcane caucus process no one participates in, no candidates worth a crap, and the party (such as it is) is weak and disorganized and riddled with self-serving elitist insiders like Kendal Unruh and Regina Thompson, and there’s house GOP rep Mike Coffman paying for ads attacking Trump as part of HIS campaign to be re-elected.
