My bet is that 6 of the 8 octacores are doing nothing.

The only information that matters...

That Apple is run by a radical sodomite.

No thanks. I’ll stick with my Android products.

Apple truly makes a superior product but, for some reason my photos come out amazing on my Note5 and my friends take pics from the late 1970’s on their CrApple Cramera....

What helps the iPhone tremendously is the massive amount of on-die memory cache each CPU core has. That's why it's so fast in launching apps.

Biased test...

It takes more processing power to run a 1334×750 resolution than a 2560×1440 resolution. Double the resolution on the iPhone and watch it slow way down...

Considering different code base and OS that’s pretty close. Java and android are pigs compared to Obj-C and IOS.

Apple hardware is always a day late, but applications run well in it’s North Korean like OS.

Android is a kludged, take Linux, and mash it around, and make it look and kinda feel like iOS. On equivalent hardware, its never as fast or smooth as i0S. Windows Phone (RIP) could run with half the speed and ram of an equivalent Android phone and still feel as peppy. It, like iOS, were built from the bottom up to be mobile OSes.

My son recently got a Note7, and its a darn fine piece of hardware though, so I ain't hatin on it.

It’s a phone. Well, both are. What’s this “speed test” pissing match worth in every day usage? I have no horse in this particular race, I use an HTC a couple of years old that has been very dependable and does what I need it do, it runs the usual apps without lag or problems. Good enough.

Is the Apple or Samsung about to provide a cure for cancer? Otherwise, who really cares?

Reminds me of the days when Japan (pre-Deming) was notorious for making and selling junk. ("Made in Japan" was considered a warning / caveat!)

IIRC, they had a ubiquitous 3-transistor radio design that would pick up nearby stations, but was lousy for anything distant -- and even had poor selectivity between local stations.

Then they started a "transistor race" -- offering 6- transistor, 8-transistor, and 10-transistor radios -- at incrementally more-expensive prices.

Then folks noticed that they all performed the same as the 3-transistor versions.

And someone checked -- and, sure enough -- all "transistors" over the count of 3 were nothing but empty "cans"

Maybe the Koreans have taken lessons from the Japanese...!

Two thoughts.

First, I would contend this is not a "real world" speed test. Well, maybe it is for an ADHD teen simultaneously updating status on multiple social media sites, watching videos, generating his/her next meme etc. Me, probably 90+% of my usage is a couple of simple apps, oh, and I actually make phone calls with my phone. My several year old 'droid has enough memory to keep my "go-to" apps going in the background, they start nearly instantly as far as I can tell. So this "real world" speed test has absolutely nothing to do with my "real world" usage.

Second, even if you prove to me an iPhone could do what I typically do faster than a 'droid. So what? a) I still prefer the 'droid way of doing things over the Apple way of doing things. b) I typically check my phone during downtime. I really don't care if email opens in 0.0002 sec or 3 whole seconds.

Like I said, that's just me. I admit a bias - I prefer the 'droid ecosystem and environment to Apple. (wife is Apple, so yes, I have more than a little experience with the other side) If app load/switching speed is high on your list of priorities then by all means, go with what moves you. For me, it's just not a discriminator.
