As Gawker's J.K Trotter writes on the site's main page - Gawker to end operations next week...
After nearly fourteen years of operation, Gawker.com will be shutting down next week.
The decision to close Gawker comes days after Univision successfully bid $135 million for Gawker Media’s six other websites, and four months after the Silicon Valley billionaire Peter Thiel revealed his clandestine legal campaign against the company.
Nick Denton, the company’s outgoing CEO, informed current staffers of the site’s fate on Thursday afternoon, just hours before a bankruptcy court in Manhattan will decide whether to approve Univision’s bid for Gawker Media’s other assets.
The near-term plans for Gawker.com’s coverage, as well as the site’s archives, have not yet been finalized.
Never heard of the site.
Theil got upset that they outed him as gay, and decided to put them out of business. This is not necessarily a "win" for the Right.
It is a win for all humanity to put that degenerate rag out of business. And a double win if whoever continues Lifehacker will actually make it useful again like it was years ago when Gina Trapani used to run it.
The R-REST of the story: Gawker staff voted to unionize and so the owners sold it. Gawker alumni with their expertise at copyright violations and making stuff up are salted into the MSM: Vanity Fair, Radar, Deadspin, etc.
I think it's the zero on my scope.
Next up ... Jezebel!
Wealthy liberals really get upset when their employees try to unionize.
Oh wow! They scalped him!
I hope Hulk Hogan got his money.
They have the goods on Bill Clinton here though: http://gawker.com/flight-logs-put-clinton-dershowitz-on-pedophile-billio-1681039971
