Brazilian police say Ryan Lochte and three other swimmers who claimed they were robbed had in fact destroyed a gas station toilet and refused to pay for the damage until a security guard waved a gun at them, DailyMail.com can disclose. A source with knowledge of the investigation said the four handed over money after the guard at the gas station insisted they pay. The version of events emerged as police in Rio prepared to quiz the taxi driver who picked up the four after they left a nightclub and resume questioning the three swimmers still in Brazil.

Most of the time the tanks don’t have covers.
Well the militia folks have been talking cheerfully about such things.
A lot may already have such a guard, but you’d never know it until the specific guard services are needed.
And this is why we are called “Ugly Americans”.
We go to foreign countries, show NO respect for their countries, and expect to be covered by US law.
If Brazilian law says they serve 3 years hard labor, so be it.
If convicted, they ALL need to lose their Olympic medals.
Lochte is no kid, he is 32 years old and should know better. Maybe he could learn something cleaning prison toilets for a few years.
I take it you’ve never been to Brazil. Old guys with shotguns guarding the gates of suburban homes otherwise surrounded by a wall topped with broken glass and/or razor wire are as common a sight as ADT signs in the front yard are here. It’s be armed and ready or be robbed and probably shot.
Breaking: Locte lied.
Lyin’ Rochte?
How do you destroy a toilet?
I’m asking the same question....
You now now, that the liberal media, is going to trash the heck out of us Americans, and it will BE THE MAIN STORY OF THE AMERICANS AT THE OLYMPIC ALONG WITH THE GYMNAST, GABBY HAYES, WHO REFUSED TO PUT HER HAND OVER HER HEART.
COULD BE THAT It was a pos toilet to begin with, and the owner tried to extort money saying they broke the handle...
Kinda like the old speed trap trick where you get arrested.
Maybe the cabbie was in on it too.
Yep . . . in the 60s it started in high school and got worse as it went along.
What crime did they commit? Lying to the press?
What crime did they commit? I keep asking. They filed no report. The guys on the plane are only witnesses.
That’s what I was wondering, but the husband just told me about a story he saw online:
They did not destroy the actual toilet; they broke down the door to get into the restroom because the gas station was closed. Then the security guard showed up.
I would have everyone in my family armed, including my 17-month-old grandson if I lived in that disgusting, crime-ridden country.
They drank the water.
See my #93.
No need. There IS security cam video of the incident. The swimmers did lie about the incident...based on their conflicting accounts, timing and changes in their story.
Not saying I completely believe the Rio cops but these kids are guilty as hell and weren't simply "robbed at gunpoint".
Very common in South America. in Cost Rica you'll see armed guards outside restaurants, markets, hotels and most everything else. Same in Peru, Chile, etc. You see guards with automatic rifles outside banks.
It's like a jobs program.
If true, did the security guard call the police? Or did he keep the cash? Did the security guard get the money to the gas station owner?
Or were they actually robbed? The plot thickens again. Did criminals get robbed by a criminal in the act of committing a crime? Was the security guard using the said restroom?
