“Maybe Trump is onto something...” a friend averred on Monday as we watched Donald Trump’s foreign policy speech unfold in Youngstown, Ohio.
This November, for the first time, my self-proclaimed “apathetic liberal-type” friend will consider voting Republican. For her, as for many young people over the past few months, the terrorist attacks in Orlando, San Bernardino and Nice roused her from her Bernie slumber to see that we live in a real world, with real enemies, and real consequences for inaction when it comes to standing up for our values.
The inaction is that our leaders fail to assign blame where it’s obviously due. When Omar Mateen attacked homosexuals while pledging his allegiance to ISIS, our leaders fell over themselves to tie the tragedy to mental illness, the ill effects of American foreign policy, repressed homosexuality, and American gun culture. Mateen’s connection to ISIS was hastily downplayed or ignored. Google Mateen’s name in the mainstream press and political commentary, and you are sure to find statements decrying the repression of gays in America.
But it’s the Muslim countries that repress gays, churn out chauvinistic ideology, and spread these ideas around the world. All you have to do is look at what actually goes on in the Muslim world as opposed to what our leaders and press would wish to see in it. If you think Trump is a bigot, take a closer look at Muslim countries; or better yet, go there.
In Ohio, Trump brought a measure of much needed frankness to the national discourse about terrorism. “The United States defeated fascism, Nazism, and communism,” he observed. “Now, a different threat challenges our world: radical Islamic terrorism.” As Trump has intimated elsewhere, the problem with radical Islam is not just violence, but also hateful animus toward our country.

Trump gave a really good speech with this one. He needs to concentrate more on this than attacking Republicans he already beat.

I believe part of Donald’s appeal, among people who do not ordinarily consider a Republican candidate (which means, the votes Donald needs to attract to win) is that he is very much NOT A USUAL REPUBLICAN.
Trump is pro-American in trade, for America, and I strongly believe he is a second chance.
The GOP has sold out. Every last one of them.
Trump has not. He does not need to make peace with the GOP. He needs to win.

Excellent point, why do we want to let in people and give them freedom they can use to destroy freedom?
We must ONLY let in people who want to PERPETUATE FREEDOM and not those who wish to use it to destroy it.
Youngstown has plenty of Lebanese and Syrian Christians.

Any liberal who doesn’t treat conservatives like plague vectors is well on the road to recovery.
The problem is that the left hates our prosperity and freedom and intend to destroy it from inside even if they have to import our destruction from outside to inside.
The problem is there is a significant portion of the right, which is also working to take America’s prosperity by globalization.
Both sides are the problem.
Both every bit as big, of a problem. Just for different reasons.
I know that the globalists and the one world order are not separated by much. They both need to be defeated in a way that makes future attempts afraid to try.

Listened to Trump’s foreign policy speech! It was Presidential, it was total Trump and it proves that incompetence & stupidity resides with the leftist commie globalists Obama & Hillary!
The communists want to dyria estroy our country from within. They have their best chance with one of their own as president. He is running out of time so expect things to step up in the next few months.I am all for vetting at any level. The regime claims to be vetting, but that is BS. Syria would not cooperate with those who escape for conscience or for evil intent.
Looks like Ms. Kritin has been to Moslem countries, and YES, from a female perspective, they are horrible. From my POV, no Moslem should be allowed into this country unless they REPUDIATE Sharia Law. No Imam should be allowed in from Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Pakistan, etc. PERIOD!
The left uses perceived grievances to play groups against each other, but they only care about totalitarian control. They seem to think that islam can get their totalitarian control, that they can survive the process and that they can defeat the muslims for final control. I don’t plan to let them get to second base. They are already at first base safe and the MSM saying nothing about it.
