CANTON, Ohio — FOX6 News has learned the Green Bay Packers vs. Indianapolis Colts Pro Football Hall of Fame Game set for Sunday evening, August 7th has been cancelled due to turf concerns.

Apparently there is an issue with the condition of the field at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium after Saturday night’s Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

FOX6’s Tim Van Vooren is there — and reported decision makers for the Packers and Colts were on the field, meeting about the field condition. David Baker, president of the Pro Football Hall of Fame was speaking with team leaders.

Agreed but the stars play little or not at all while the longshots need all the minutes they can get.

Football fields can be mud pits, frozen solid, or carpet over asphalt (astroturf), how can there be concerns about the field?

Not like they didn’t know long ago the game was scheduled for that date. Who is their groundskeeper, Carl Spackler?

Toma could have fixed that in his sleep, he’s done Olympics, Super Bowls World Series, World Cups etc. One time he re-sodded the whole field in Chicago or San Fran in one week

And the fans who overpaid to sit on wooden bleachers will get a generous refund of their full ticket price. /s

They had a concert and an event last night all before the game today.

The field was trampled and didn’t recover enough for the game.

And then there was the logo in the middle of the field done with the wrong paint.

NFL got greedy and lost the game as a result.

“They used the wrong paint on the midfield insignia. It’s too sticky to run on.”

Your reason sounded weird, but this is what they said:

“There were concerns over melted paint and an uneven playing surface.”

Huh? It still sounds weird.

So, in the days of multipurpose stadiums — Oakland is the last — NFL teams played on dirt baseball infields until October. They can’t play on an all grass field? What the h*ll kind of b*llsh*t is this? Get out there and play, p*ssy assh*les.

The stadium in Canton is being renovated and I believe the permanent playing surface is not yet installed.

the funniest thing is that Toma's said his grass is the highest in his own neighborhood because he is constantly fixing other messes in MLB, NFL and soccer around the world ... he has no time to do his own lawn..

Astounding. One pro game a year at the HOF, and they have a concert the night before?? Isn’t anyone in charge of common sense any more?

>>Pre-season NFL football.<<

The worst NFL is magnitudes better than the best any other sport.

And watching fans look at an empty field is 100 times better than watching the Olympics.

It sounds absolutely nuts, doesn’t it? How do you even have “wrong paint”?

Bud Grant would have ordered his team to get on the field.

I was there 16 yrs ago for a state hs championship game, but I don’t remember any wood bleachers. Is that brought in for the NFL game?
