A beautiful, special Ferrari 458 Speciale minding its own business was horrifyingly mutilated at Katie’s Cars & Coffee in Great Falls, Virginia this morning when a Mercedes 380 SL parallel parked on the face of the $300,000 supercar. Children were watching!
If you head over to the Katie’s Cars & Coffee Facebook page, almost all of the Visitor Posts are of the carnage. In this clip below, you can see the moments just after the wreck happened. Warning: nobody was injured but the damage to the Ferrari and its wailing, crying and painful alarm may be graphic for some viewers.
There were kids in the Mercedes! They’re going to have to live the rest of their lives knowing that the car they once considered a friend mutilated a Ferrari.
The lady driving the 380 SL with the license plate ‘DER BNZ’ somehow missed the bright red supercar likely parked there to avoid this very occurrence. As the great Harley Quin once said in the not-great Suicide Squad, “hope you got insurance.”

The witch still had it in reverse! You can see the back up lights are still on. Ferrari nsurance investigators will have plenty of bystander evidence.
Since it appears to be on private property, had it played out in nearby MD, the cops would shrug, tell the owners to exchange info and stroll away...

Which I’m sure was the random thought of the perp. I’ll just use the drive in to the spot technique, rather than the tried and true parallel parking maneuver she knew was a personal weak area.
Hope I’m not offending anyone, but the Mercedes 380 SL is such a wussy car. To me it just shouts ‘suburban chick car’. Not that there’s anything wrong with that..

What ever happened to Glen Echo?
Back in the late '50's, Saturdays after I'd collected for my paper route, I'd take to trolley out past the Naval Engineering test tank to the end of the line (IIRC). That was back when you could ride all over town with a quarter and the paper transfer. One Saturday to Glen Echo, the next to the Smithsonian.
And it was (reasonably) safe, at least in Northwest DC, for a 12 year old kid to do so.
Little old lady got mutilated late last night.
A man in our community parks his Corvette in front of Starbucks every morning. He places orange cones in front of it for protection. This guy needs some orange cones.
I go to this Cars and Coffee Saturday morning several times a year, weather and schedule permitting. It has become one spectacular, spontaneous, classic car show. This is the first incident I’ve ever heard of where damage is done because everyone is so careful and knows the millions of dollars involved.
Couldn’t someone have thrown one of the children between the cars to soften the impact?
The Mercedes WAS in spectacular condition for a 30 year-old car!
My husband is a car nut, I just texted him the link.
Worst of all, the Benz is only a 380! Not even a 500.
If the situation was reversed, the Benz would have been honored to be wrecked by the Ferrari.
