(Vanity) Question about the Shadowhawk X800 LED Flashlight
8/2/2016 | Self

Posted on 08/02/2016 2:05:36 PM PDT by scouter

I've seen some ads recently for the Shadowhawk X800 LED Flashlight. I was wondering if any FReepers own this, or anything like it, and if you think it was worth the money.

I’ve had one of these for a few years and I can’t imagine any flashlight that could be much better than this. It’s used on a daily basis and has been dropped and banged around a lot, still has the original battery and bulb but works like a champ.

Its a scam. Surefire tactical lights are 100 times better and more reliable.

But as with anything, you get what you pay for.

I have not purchased that one but there are a bunch of led flashlights on the market which are really good. Much brighter than the old Mag lights. I have four or five which appear very similar and probably came from the same factory but with different brand names.

The local Wal-Mart had a Surefire marked down from nearly $300 to $125 but that was still way too much for me.

There is one which really stands out from all the others. It has no brand name that I can see except it says “I-Zoom” and takes 3 D cells.

All the $10 ones are very bright but this one is super bright. much brighter than my cars headlights. It will throw a strong spot on trees which are at least 300 yards away across a pond. I think I only paid around $30 for it.

I have bought several of these

https://www.amazon.com/UltraFire-Zoomable-Flashlight-Torch-18650/dp/B00EP60VDG/ref=sr_1_18?s=hardware&ie=UTF8&qid=1470172603&sr=1-18&keywords=ultrafire+flashlight

800 lumens. Good price point and quality.

Fits in your pocket. Width of you palm size. Could be used in closed fist if problems arose.

I have walked dark streets with it. I believe it is as bright as a car headlight.

Like them a lot.

I bought two of these .. two batts & charger included with each, free shipping, work great, hold a charge very well - $14.25 ea.
Of course all the $100 flashlight owners will sniff, but I'm old enough to not give a damn     ;-)

Used one of these for five years outside in a work environment.
Even pouring rain and dropping it regularly didn't kill it.

My Surefire is still going on strong after 8 years with the same battery and numerous drops.

I personally know the inventor and founder of Pelican flashlights, and I can say they are a good product. Maybe I’m a little partial as he gave me some himself. They also make industrial-strength hard-shell travel gun and computer cases. And no, I didn’t receive a commission for this product plug. Their hangar is directly across from ours here in Charlevoix.
