Merkel's premiership is hanging by a thread today as thousands gathered to call for her resignation while a key political ally dramatically withdrew his support over immigration policy.
More than 5,000 protested in Berlin and thousands more throughout Germany over the 'open-door' policy that many have blamed for four brutal terrorist attacks that left 13 dead over the last month.
The Chancellor faced a fresh wave of fury after it emerged that two recent terror attacks and a third killing were carried out by men who entered the country as refugees.
Despite the massive waves of criticism, Merkel defended her policy this week, dramatically proclaiming 'we can do it' as she pledged not to let the violent acts guide political decisions.
But now her key ally in Bavaria - which bore the brunt of the attacks - has launched a fresh attack on her leadership, distancing his party from Merkel and straining the coalition that keeps her in power.

I know virtually nothing about contemporary German politics. Would anyone like to weigh in on the likelihood of Merkel’s “retirement” and how exactly it comes about?
It’s about damn time! Merkel should be forced to live among the koranimals that she has forced upon her own citizens.
Elections next year- afd Alternative for Germany could win. Frauke Petry wants her job.
Germans still strongly support her Party (that's what's most important in a Parliamentary system.) And the split between those who oppose (48%) and those who favor(41%) her immigration policies is nowhere near what you would think it should be if the famous (and largely fanciful) German rationality really meant all that much.
What took so long for the German people to wake up?

I guess it'll hafta come down to which faction is more dedicated to their cause. Girly touchy-feely men and hippy chicks, or Fathers, Brothers and Sons who have had enough of this EU BS.

Oh Gosh, not again? Any day now, Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Fuhrer, ein Deutschland? Forget it, it won’t happen, they are a bunch of pajama metrosexuals there too. Its not 1930’s Germany anymore, they’ve had “Das Will” removed and won’t fight back. They have become too liberal and soft to resist. The Borg from the mid east will absorb them.
