I know virtually nothing about contemporary German politics. Would anyone like to weigh in on the likelihood of Merkel’s “retirement” and how exactly it comes about?

Next elections in Germany are in spring of 2017. It has been said in the past that Merkel does not want to run for a 4th 5-year term anyway, so who knows what will happen then. Interestingly, this article from 2 years ago says that she may resign by then to try to become head of either the EU or UN (both those positions become open in 2017):
Merkel aims to be head of UN or EU????
I wonder how much of her insane open borders policy is driven by personal conviction and how much is "political" since until recently it would seem to be a necessary policy plank for one who seeks to head up the EU or UN??? Of course, it can be her personal belief AND what she knows the globalist elites demand of her if she wants to advance in her post-Germany career.
