All he needs is an adventurous female to be a surrogate mother, says a scientist at Harvard Medical School, and hes off to the races on a plan to resurrect the extinct Neanderthals.
He thinks he has enough Neanderthal DNA that he can reconstruct the whole DNA strand. Would that mean filling the little gaps with, say, frog DNA? It worked in Jurassic Park.
Professor George Church of Harvard Medical School believes he can reconstruct Neanderthal DNA and resurrect the species which became extinct 33,000 years ago.
His scheme is reminiscent of Jurassic Park but, while in the film dinosaurs were created in a laboratory, Professor Churchs ambitious plan requires a human volunteer.
He said his analysis of Neanderthal genetic code using samples from bones is complete enough to reconstruct their DNA. Youd think it would bewell, cruelto bring to life a being who would be the only one of his kind in all the world. Like, whats the poor Neanderthal supposed to do, after they get done experimenting on him? If they ever get done. If hes ever permitted to have a life of his own, it that were even possible.
So why do this? The prefesser explains:
When the time comes to deal with
getting off the planet, its conceivable that their [Neanderthals] way of thinking could be beneficial.

Which is odd, because homo sapiens is the only creature that has ever been on the planet that denies that God exists.
Great non sequitur, there!
And Homo sapiens is the only species on the planet that has the cognitive capacity to deny the existence of gods.
Regards,
Who is to say they wouldn’t be paleo-conservatives?
I HATED that commercial.
Same here. That guy was metrosexual, neanderthal jerk.
There are plenty of the in Filthadelphia this week.
Really, has this nitwit been to St. Louis?
What is wrong with people? What is going on at Harvard? Island of Dr. Moreau on the Charles.
Just because we CAN do something
Doesn’t mean we SHOULD do something
Comeon ladies! Where's your sense of adventure?
I really hope that the female population sees this for what it is. Dr. Frankenstein is trying to create a monster. Lets hope nobody wants to deliver a monster.
Gee. That’s the same thing that Mrs. cpdiii told us the
other day about you! - added the “made out like a bandit”
part and laughed.
They’re spawned in the Middle east right now.
“the only one of his kind”?
I’ve seen more on TV the last couple days than you can shake a stick at.
Great, more Democrat voters...
People don’t like to hear that. It offends their egos
Test Dan Dierdorf. I’m just saying.
Yeah...that Geico guy could use a mate.
I can only assume it was a male Neanderthal, females are hard to picture—but then again... Unfortunately, I cannot “divorce” mine, he is a real pain and it is done intentionally as the guy does not have a brain, something Neanderthals were known for, even if the species is a myth.
I’ve seen some people that would make you believe that the Neanderthals never left. ;-)
I kind of wish they’d frigging hold off resurrecting extinct species just to poke, prod, and dissect them. A Neanderthal will almost certainly be intelligent. I suppose an absence of morals much like those lacked by Nazi scientists combined with wreckless ambition is all a sickening degenerate needs to breed intelligent life just to eventually euthanize it after collecting some data that’ll have little benefit to mankind at best. Moreover, I think we (mankind) still have a lot to learn about DNA before we go filling in some gaps and seeing what happens.
