What did you think of Trump's speech?

Posted on 07/21/2016 9:17:54 PM PDT by MNDude

Of course we all loved it, but how do you think it'll effect voters?

Independents, anti-Trump Republicans, evangelicals, other needed voting blocks?

WAY too much to critique every point because there were so MANY of them.

First of all, making it a VERY LONG speech was brilliant! Speaking directly to ALL the people and the media HAD to cover it.

Speaking to Blacks, Jews, LGBTQ, Unions workers, Democrats it was a general election campaign speech on national TV that didn’t cost him a dime!

As Hannity said, Trump hit EVERY issue. On top of that he literally DESTROYED Hillary! He DEMONIZED her. Rightly so, she is EVIL!

I hope the sorelosermans were listening last night. Trump is CONSERVATIVE!, not “A” conservative, just plain CONSERVATIVE. It can’t be denied, Trump is CONSERVATIVE!

Law and order, 2nd amendment, school choice, tax cuts, repeal and replace Obamacare, rebuild the military, help our vets, replace the income tax code, repeal regulations, BUILD THE WALL, reform immigration, rebuild the economy, rebuild our infrastructure, make America energy independent, promote oil, gas, and COAL, JOBS, what did I forget?

What more could #NeverTrump and sorelosermans want? They have no leg to stand on other than “Hate”.

After last night, they really are irrelevant.

“I was hoping for a lyin Ted comment but it was good nonetheless.”

I think it was smart not to do that. He wants Cruz supporters to join him. He’s won the nomination, so he’s leaving the door open for even his most stubborn detractors, giving them an opportunity to get on board. Hell, he even offered Bernie supporters the opportunity to join him.

“We have our leader, ladies and gentlemen.”

Yes, we do.

I’ve always believed that when a nation is in its darkest moments, when despair seems to take hold and people fear what awaits them on the morrow; when they lay sleepless in their beds at night because their children’s futures seem hopeless; a true leader, a real CHAMPION, will emerge. Churchill was such a man in 1940. Reagan, in 1980. Now, Trump in 2016.

Yes, you are correct...the first youtube vid I pulled up must have been truncated as it was showing 54 minutes.

Apparently we disagree about the speech. I thought it was excellent.

Personally, I thought it was the best speech I’ve heard in years. “I am your voice” resonated with many a heart made weary by 7 years of living under a racist and hateful tyrant, aka Barry Hussein. I believe those who stayed home last time will not stay home this time. And they won’t be writing in that narcissist Cruz name in, either. They will come out for Trump.

It was all we’re gonna do this, and we’re gonna do that. But no this is how we’re gonna do it.

When an architect with a track record of performance presents his design for a new building, it goes without saying that he would not have to explain how electricity works, what steel and glass are and how bricks are laid. He and the people involved in accepting the design agree that he will hire the best team of experts to sub-design the systems.

Yes, when their poll results came in, first Wolf or whoever had to remind the viewers, “Remember, this poll is for anyone who watched the speech, which already skews it toward Donald.... “ sheesh. I will be watching Hillary’s speech even though I despise her and her criminal, lying ways. She really IS a criminal, whereas as Ivanka said last night, her dad is colorblind and genderblind.

The poll numbers were very encouraging. It was a great speech. Hearing CNN call it a white speech is ridiculous. They just want black and Hispanic people called out and worshiped or patronized. They don’t care about whites or even Asians. I’d like speeches about America by our nominee to be about Americans. This dividing into needy, greedy groups is getting ridiculous.

Of course, he made promises he can’t possibly keep.

If he does one-third of what he said, we will be 1000% better off. Beyond that, when a true leader takes the forefront, other leaders are freed up to make improvements harmonious with his. It is a movement, and he is a proven leader.

I'm willing to forgive up to 67% if he will just make cuts in immigration and corrections in our losing trade situations.

By appointing the correct kind of AG like Christie or Giuliani, our crime situation will improve. And by appointing strict constuctionists to the SCOTUS, we will be relieved of many of the programs of the lying fascists and their immoral suppression of traditional JudeoChristian culture, the heritage of Western Civ and English common law and our traditionally optimistic, problem-solving, Bill of Rights-honoring American way of life.

>Powerful speech. Of course, he made promises he can’t possibly keep.

Trump’s going to start trekking left on some issues to pick up more voters. However, he’s going to stay firm on judges, immigration, Muslims, and religious freedoms for Christians.

The way Trump views the world is about making. In a deal no one gets everything they want but they always get something they want. We’ll get what’s most important to us.

I think he grabbed the evangelicals

Providence has been supporting his ascension every step of the way. Throughout his campaign over the past year, just after he says something politically incorrect, some horrible event happens to justify the tough line he has taken, like the murder of Kate Steinle by an illegal just after he said he would build a wall to stop illegals from bringing crime, and how the ISIS slaughters in Paris, Orlando and Nice have made the threat of refugee terrorism and the necessity of the 2nd Amendment very clear to average people.

To this point about the Orlando massacre, Christians who are devout have had expectations in the past that anything related to the homosexual agenda would be not just denied in law, but also denounced by the Republican Party because of the manifest immorality of their sexual behaviors. However, the events in Orlando have given Trump, as the spokesperson for the GOP, an opportunity to make affirmative statements of support for the basic human rights of gay people not to be murdered for their "identity" and not to be considered too effete to practice self-defense, without the Platform having to give them unlimited support for the rest of their agenda.

In his speech, he said, "As your President, I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBT citizens from the violence and oppression of a hateful foreign ideology." This very precise statement is about keeping the wholesale lynching of gays by islamists out of our nation. It is a rejection of shari'a law, and a protection of gays' rights to exist, to "pursue" happiness and to be left alone, without a promise to celebrate gay marriage, gay parenting, etc. It exposed the hypocrisy of the left, which is in love with the extremely oppressive nature of islamism.

Trump will get a lot of votes from lgbt's and their cheerleaders because of this absolute dichotomy between his position and Hillary's, hers and Huma's being to bring proponents and practitioners of shari'a law into our country by the millions, to lie about them and their intentions, and to sell out to the terror-supporting nations from which they come to inflict civilizational jihad on us.

I thought it was the best speech I’ve heard since Rudy’s the other day. Which makes it the best speech i ever heard.

And Gingrich was no slouch, either. He shocked people deeply with his starkly honest views. That is how far away from True North our nation has drifted.

And also, I wish he would have mentioned liberty and the Constitution on occasion.
" We are also going to appoint justices to the United States Supreme Court who will uphold our laws and our Constitution. The replacement for Justice Scalia will be a person of similar views and principles. This will be one of the most important issues decided by this election."

"When innocent people suffer, because our political system lacks the will, or the courage, or the basic decency to enforce our laws – or worse still, has sold out to some corporate lobbyist for cash – I am not able to look the other way."

"The first task for our new Administration will be to liberate our citizens from the crime and terrorism and lawlessness that threatens their communities."

"On January 21st of 2017, the day after I take the oath of office, Americans will finally wake up in a country where the laws of the United States are enforced."

"I would like to thank the evangelical community who have been so good to me and so supportive. You have so much to contribute to our politics, yet our laws prevent you from speaking your minds from your own pulpits. An amendment, pushed by Lyndon Johnson, many years ago, threatens religious institutions with a loss of their tax-exempt status if they openly advocate their political views. I am going to work very hard to repeal that language and protect free speech for all Americans.:

I apoologize for leaving him out. His speech was Excellent.

As was Ivanka’s and the son’s.

Christie did a great job attacking.

His kids were class all the way.

Newt was the elder statesman.

And Rudy went to bat for the cops.

Pence is the PERFECT nice guy and very likeable. I think he’s still in shock that he’s the pick :)

Yeah, the shouting was one of the first things I noticed. He had a captive audience. He could have whispered and people would have been leaning in on his every word. Then again, I suppose he knows what he’s doing to get this far, eh?

I was kind of shocked this morning, as I read the transcript of his speech, to hear in my mind his exaggeratedly loud and emphatic voice. I had found his delivery annoying while watching it. Another person could have read the speech in the quiet patter of the typical television-savvy talking head or politician, and it would have sounded more "soothing" or "appropriate"—but I may not have remembered their words or their cadence the way I was genuinely surprised to remember his.

I guess his technique is working.

I thought it was good, but I kept seeing the panning of the audience that was full of delegates who were mostly not Trump supporters. I think that ruined it.

The media are majority leftists, and the cameramen or director most likely were the ones who controlled the camera angles, not the Party.

I noticed how many persons of color (POCs) were shown by the cameras on the first and second nights of the convention, due to several factors, such as the POC's set forward by nominating delegations to take the microphone. But towards the end, either because:

• some POCs could have left before the entire convention was over because it is expensive being a delegate and paying to stay for a week, or

• because the rebellious delegations of Utah and Colorado were seated down front, or

• a different cameraman or director came on board, or

• because the cameramen had mastered the learning curve as to where the most while people were concentrated in the arena,

... what viewers saw in the final two nights did indeed seem "whiter."

There is also a general ignorance in the public about how being a delegate works. It's not a process where persons of color are hand-picked to give a good show of politically correct racial balance; in most states, delegates have to have been involved in the state party and have experience with running for an elected or appointed delegate poslition. Minority communities may not be up to speed on these processes yet; nor have state parties had the money to put the appearance of racial balance in the forefront. Therefore the racial composition of the delegates is likely to lag behind the actual demographics of the electorate; but it is not necessarily because of an intentional non-inclusiveness. This is the hardest aspect of multi-racial society: the dominant group will simply be blamed and shamed, no matter what.

Ultimately I think we’re gonna have to split the country in half. Half to the leftists. Half to the ones who just want to be left the hell alone. We all know which half will ultimately come out on top.

The pendulum can swing back. It will take time, effort and massive reeducation, but it's got to start somewhere. It usually is only half as hard as it looks going into it, because a movement develops momentum.

CNN and dems (same thing) keep saying it was all lies and specifically that crime is going down. Hmm. They seem to cite crime since 1996. How about recently?

Obviously, they are discounting the deeper social impact of terrorist rapes, threats and murders within our borders and our allies' borders; and the murder stats in Chicago that he cited were appalling—more people killed since Zero took office than were killed on 9/11, a globally recognized tragedy.

"In the President’s hometown of Chicago, more than 2,000 have been the victims of shootings this year alone. And more than 3,600 have been killed in the Chicago area since he took office."
In Trump's mind and in his plan, the revival of jobs and industry will do much to arrest some of the worst pathologies of the ghettos that are rife with crime, drugs, murder, illegitimacy and abortion. If a man can't get a job and support a family, he is a nothing sexually and socially—worse than a slave, who at least can point to his constructive output within his "community." We don't know if this solution will prove true, but since we've tried every other sort of liberal government mollycoddling, it's worth a shot.
