CLEVELAND For the first time in 36 years, there was a vote on the floor of a partys nominating convention this past Monday that actually held an element of suspense.
In the hour or so ahead of a vote in which insurgents were attempting to reset the convention rules, Republican National Committee operatives circulated the floor and the back halls of Quicken Loans Arena, buttonholing delegates to argue why they should retract support for the motion, and getting them to sign their names to withdrawal forms. Trump aides, by contrast, bullied delegates with vague and ineffective threats.
In one corner of the arena floor, near CNNs broadcast booth, delegates from the District of Columbia listened to appeals from high-ranking RNC officials.
The RNCs argument to the D.C. delegates boiled down to this: A vote for the rules reset would open the door to Ted Cruz becoming the GOPs nominee four years from now.

No 2020, no Never. Her’s on now and such a whiner. Cannot stand his voice. And I do not hear an endorsement. He should be kicked off the stage. Good to see people stoic on floor. Better to turn their backs.
Against my better judgment I’m going to respond to you, primarily because I’ve read probably hundreds of your posts over a long time and believe that, like me, you love this country and are passionate about the need to get this election right.
May I suggest that, unless you know someone personally, it is almost impossible to define their mindset? Someone explained to me elsewhere on this thread why there is such vitriol against Cruz in terms that make sense; feeling that someone you trusted has betrayed you brings out anger and resentment in all of us.
I never thought Cruz was perfect to start with and I really question his judgement in aligning himself with Beck So I guess I never felt the level of resentment others may. And, looking at the big picture, I still think he has more positives going for him than Jeb or Kasich or (shudder at the thought) Graham, and that not all the accusations made against him are accurate/fair.
I also think that Trump needs to be held accountable - as any candidate/POTUS should be - by his or her supporters.
It is the ongoing tone and personal attacks against FReepers that I reacted to earlier today. I believe we can disagree passionately about issues and still be respectful personally. Thus, as I shared with you in an earlier post, I should have ignored today’s comments and refrained from posting from emotion rather than reason.
I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make in your last sentence. It can be interpreted many ways: a warning, an attempt to intimidate, an invitation to leave the forum. Whatever you were trying to convey, Free Republic has always been a place where conservative Patriots could share their views, debate the issues of the moment, have a few laughs, find support in trying times, and celebrate this Nation and all it stands for.
I just checked. 2DV already went and got himself suspended again. Looks like he didn't even last a full day.

That’s too bad. I really like 2DV. I don’t understand how they can have such loyalty to an oath breaker.
I used to, too, but he became an insufferable cultist over the last year.
Got so bad that he couldn't have a civil conversation with anyone who didn't worship Saint Ted of Calgary.

I wondered so I was about to check and then I saw your post.
FWIW - maybe it’s temp again
Hard to believe that he just got off suspension, then got himself suspended again in less than a day.
Don’t drink Cruz-Aid, kids. That stuff will make you crazy.
Wow, he stayed a cruzlim longer than Richard Viguerie. http://www.conservativehq.com/node/23643. Or Krauthammer. http://insider.foxnews.com/2016/07/21/krauthammer-cruzs-rnc-speech-longest-suicide-note-political-history
Ted’s self inflicted attempts at Cruzicide continue!
